It's a sham Venerable Vat Vibol says that King Jayavarman VII was the builder of Angkor Wat Temple. According to Cambodia's history I have learned, it is King Suryavarman II who built it. King Jayvarman VII built Bayon and a number of other temples.

King Jayavarman VII was a Mahayana Buddhist while King Suryavarman II was a Hindu.

Apparently, Venerable Vat Vibol is a Hinayana Buddhist monk.

The Four Reliances
First, rely on the spirit and meaning of the teachings, not on the words;
Second, rely on the teachings, not on the personality of the teacher;
Third, rely on real wisdom, not superficial interpretation;
And fourth, rely on the essence of your pure Wisdom Mind, not on judgmental perceptions.

When Vietnamese take our Angkor picture to put on the flip-flop. So Vietnam look down on Khmer Nation. If we are Khmer, we must support khmer not allow Vietnam to do this.

I thought I can learn the facts from Khmer Monks. Now when our Monk like Ven. Vat Vibol preaches lies, I am so sad for myself and for all my Khmers who expect that our Monks would have learnt properly. In the past we always heard all VARAMAN Kings were GREAT, but later we found out through History from outsiders (not from Khmer History not from Thai history not from Viet history) but from another sources that our Varaman Kings such as King Jayavaraman 8 put Cambodia as a homage to Kublai Khan destroyed our economy our wealth since then, but these blabbermouths stay silent.

I am not sure I want to stay as a Buddhist anymore, because my Khmer Monks such as Ven. Vat Vibol also lacks of education and he continues to mislead us.

I was too sad already to see a crazy dictator Hun Sen becomes the laws of my country, and now I am even more sad to see my Khmer Monks are ignorant, though they live outside Cambodia, and we thought they can seek more knowledge, but they don't.

Socheata. Can you inform the Monk to be more careful before he writes or post something like this. He puts Khmer Buddhism at risk.

Tell him to study very careful. It was not Jayavaraman 7 who built Angkor Wat it was King Suryavaraman II.

I am very sorry that Dr.Lao Mong Hay did not consider thouroughly the words" Khmer ancients and Jayavaraman VII". Khmer ancients mean including Surayavaraman II also. espcially those who look down on the monks.

Mr/Ms 6:23AM

When Angkor Wat Temple was mentioned, its builder, Suryavarman II, should have also been mentioned, not just Jayavarman VII. The builder of the great temple that has been used by generations of Cambodians as the symbol of their nation is not as well known, let alone being as venerated, as Jayavarman VII. It is grossly unfair to him.

Cambodian historians and teachers of Cambodian history should help render justice to King Suryavarman II.

In December 1965, I visited Angkor Wat temple for the first time as a young man, just graduating from the Royal School of Admistration. When I was approaching it from the airport along the road leading to its front, I was so much overshelmed by that awe inspiring temple that I felt I was just a spec of dust when reaching its main entrance and walking inside it, just overwhelmed by its majesty and the ingenuity of those who had designed and built it.

All glory and praise should be to God, the Creator of all thing and provider of all abilities and stenght.
For not giving thanks and not worshiping God, and turned away from him and separated from him by khmer kings' sins, that judgement had upon Cambodia for centuries and still upon us now.
Khmer kings built temples for their own glory and blasphem God by calling themselves god.
Now if you still not hear the warnings, be prepared to receive in due time judgment from Him.

Ven. Vath Vibol is a Khmer younger monk who has put his gut and effort to inspire those who are in sleep and never awake.

I admire the gut Venerable Vath Vibol has shouldered for collective benefit of Cambodia.

His wrong statement of Angkor Wat is just a typo...

So it is your faults who posted his wrong statements across the globe? Or he is a Young Monk he has not yet learnt the history properly rather, he listended to people talking to one another that only King Jayavaraman VII was the greatest. Angkor Wat is our spirit our Khmer soul and the whole world adore it, but King Suryavaman II was the builder. Is it why we are cursed because we KHmers forget the great King who built Angkor Wat? Khmers L'meuss Kun Sdach Suryavaraman II who built us a greatest Angkor Wat and built us Preah Vihear. Look what happen to us? Miserable. Teach us properly but stop lying.

Based on Khmer scholar educated in England like Dr. LAO Mong Hay said,
Ven Vat Vibol does not seem to know the Khmer History well, and you don't either.

No one can correct or criticize you because you or Monks are Khmers are untouchable like Hun Sen? Wake up and accept your mistake instead of dictating critics like Hun Sen.

Anonymous said...

Typical Khmers, no one can criticize their mistake. We need to accpet that it is becoming our culture, the culture of impunity. Look what Hun Sen doe sto our people? He dictates everyone who criticizes him.

I thought that world internet help the Khmers to study at least their own history. From witnessing million tourists around the world visiting the world famous Temple Angkor Wat, I thought the Khmers can at least study who was the builder of this great famous Hindu Temple Angkor Wat.

I think this Monk is not different than million Khmers including this poster named Socheata, they are not only ignorant but lazy to search for the truth.

Angkor Wat was built in the early 12th century by King Surayvaraman II, dedicated to Visnu.

It could be the jealousy of Khmer Buddhists who want to eliminate the original builders and honor to the Buddhist King Jayavaraman VII alone the one who didn't build Angkor Wat.

This is a serious crime or BETRAYAL by Khmer Buddhists today toward King Soryiavaraman II.

Preah Vihear Temple built by Kings Soryavaraman I(Buddhist) and Soryvaraman II (Hindu).

King Soryavaraman II was the greatest King of the Khmer empire.

King Jayavaraman VII(converted from Hindu to Buddhist) built Prasat Bayon in 12th century or early 13th century.

Every Khmer seems to talk only Jayavaraman VII, so why do they care to study the facts? They remain so stupid all their lives that's why Thais want to steal Preah Vihear from them.

You got it right the great King of the Khmer empire Soryavaraman II is so angry with Khmers who forgot his name and wnat to eliminate the great King from the history and elevated only Jayavaraman VII (Buddhist), that's why he cursing Khmers to fall and miserable non-stop. He let Siam took over, then Khmers still don't wake up.

It is about time your stupid ignorant Khmers give credits to the great King of empire Soriyavaraman II who built both Angkor Wat and Preah Vihear from now on.

His Majesty Soriyavaraman II name should be listed first, if Khmers like Ven Vat Vibol and his followers want to remove the curse from Cambodia.

I say HAIL to The Great Emperror SORYIAVARAMAN II of Khmer EMPIRE.
