A few hours prior to the meeting of the National Assembly (NA) permanent committee to lift her immunity, Mrs. Mu Sochua declared that she will not pay the 10 million riels ($2,500) fine demanded in Hun Sen’s lawsuit. She claimed that she is ready to fight this lawsuit to the end, and she is willing to walk to jail. Mrs. Mu Scohua told reporters at the SRP party headquarters in Chamcar Mon, Phnom Penh, that: “I declare that I will not pay [the fine], I will fight [this lawsuit] to the end. At the end I will go to jail.” Mrs. Mu Sochua indicated also that she will not flee the country, but that she has to attend the International Women Rights Protection meeting which will be held overseas between 22 June and 6 July.

The Southeast Asian Press Alliance (SEAPA) expresses deep concern
over the Vietnamese authorities' arrest on 13 June 2009 of Le Cong
Dinh, an established lawyer, writer, and defender of free
expression and human rights.
The charges brought against Mr. Dinh, including allegations that he
was distributing "anti-state propaganda" could carry the penalty of
life imprisonment. Given his reputation and experience as a
defender of other writers and advocates of human rights and
democracy in Vietnam, Mr. Dinh's arrest is a simultaneous attack on
two sectors vital to democratic reform in Vietnam or any society.
It sends a chilling message not only to other writers and citizens
who peacefully advocate for change, but also to those in the legal
community who would defend the Vietnamese people's right to free
expression.
SEAPA, representing media and journalist organizations throughout
Southeast Asia, thus calls for the immediate and unconditional
release of Le Cong Dinh. We urge the Vietnamese government to
assure and ensure transparency and fairness in the consideration of
the charges brought against Mr. Dinh, by giving him access to his
lawyers, and allowing independent media access to any and all
future proceedings. We would also ask that the international legal
community to which Mr. Dinh belongs, and within which he is a
respected and recognized champion of democracy and human rights, be
allowed to monitor all proceedings against Mr. Dinh, so as to
hopefully attest to the transparency and fairness he and the
Vietnamese people deserve.

This really proves that Mu Sochua and her party doesn't give a shit about the Cambodian people. There are many homeless and poor Cambodians that could use any help anytime today but this opposition sees it as better to spend her time over a petty lawsuit that has no real benefit to the Cambodian people but to her political reputation.

It's good that you can see the dying of Cambodian people, I don't know why you try to criticize the small amount of money the opposition party has but not to look at the big amount of money the ruling party received from donor countries from 600 million dollars to 1000 millions dollars each year for the development of the country and to reduce the poverty of Cambodian people not yet to mention tax money and money from tourists to see our Angkor, I heard they earned more than 1000 million dollars last year alone. Can you please do your homework to find out why your relatives and mine still poorer and dying when the government receiving a large amount of money each year. Look at those government officials, look at their cars, villas and food.
