Thai officials visit Cambodia Saturday to clarify stance on Preah Vihear issue

BANGKOK, June 23 (TNA) - Thai Deputy Prime Minister Suthep Thaugsuban on Tuesday said he will visit Cambodia Saturday on a mission to clarify Thailand's objection to the listing of the Preah Vihear temple ruins as a World Heritage Site to Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen.

The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) agreed to register Preah Vihear as a World Heritage Site of Cambodia in July, 2008.

Mr. Suthep said he and Defence Minister Gen. Prawit Wongsuwan would visit Cambodia to meet Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen to stave off any misunderstanding on the Preah Vihear issue between the two neighbouring countries.

He said Thailand and Cambodia had shared common stance to avoid border conflicts and the issue at the moment was not between Thailand and Cambodia, but Thailand and UNESCO's World Heritage Committee.

Thai Prime Minister Abhisit said earlier the government would ask UNESCO's World Heritage Committee to review last year's decision to register Preah Vihear as a World Heritage Site when the meets this week in Spain.

He would also propose that the temple be registered jointly as a World Heritage Site by Thailand and Cambodia, not as a unilateral action by Cambodia.

Mr. Suthep said he hoped that after meeting, Mr. Hun Sen would better understand Thailand's stance.

In 1962 the International Court of Justice ruled that Preah Vihear belongs to Cambodia, but the most accessible entrance begins at the foot of a mountain in Thailand, and both sides claim overlapping portions of the surrounding territory.

Armed clashes between the two military forces have since then occurred periodically near the temple, especially in a 4.6-square-kilometre disputed area.

It seems someone very powerful is behind that campaign. The former Thai PM Samark said that there is nothing wrong for Cambodia going ahead alone to register the Temple with UNESCO.

Dear Mr. Abhisit,

It is ridiculous that such in the powerful position as the PM of a country, you dare to try to claim a share of ownership with Cambodia on Preah Vihear. Please answer these questions, Mr. Abhisit:

1. Does Preah Vihear belong to Thailand?
2. Who has the rights to register Preah Vihear as the world heritage?
3. Did the UNESCO NOT know anything about who is the owner oh Preah Vihear?
4. How many state members voted for Preah Vihear Registration and stated this world heritage in the territory of Cambodia?
5. Do you think the UNESCO did not have any thorough study on the site before deciding to register Preah Vihear as the world heritage?
6. Do you have a real degree from Oxford?
7. Have you ever had a mental problem?
8. How did you manage to become the PM of Thailand?

If registering Preah Vihear as the world heritage involves the regional peace and stability, why don't you cry for any other registered heritages such as Pyramids in Egypt, the Great Wall of China, or Taj Mahal in India? I advise you to do the following so that you can claim some more world heritages from other countries. You, Mr. Aphasit should send some troops to fight Egypt, China or India and cry out to UNESCO that the fighting breaks out and there is no peace in the region and the world, so you ask the UNSESCO to reconsider the registration of Pyramids, Great wall, and Taj Mahal. It could be possible you may get one for your country interest.

Oh My God! Mr. Abhisit.! Please go to school again.

These days, the sins Thais have committed for along time against the Cambodians have splashed back to all stupid Thais. These are Buddhist curses:

1. The stupid Thai leaders became greedily unaware of the international laws and agreements/MOU
2. Tsunami has hit this Country.
3. In the southern part of Thailand the Muslim people stand up for their freedom and independence.
4. Thailand is known only for sex industry esp. in Pattaya.
5. Thailand tries to be hostile with all neighbors such as Myanmar (badly treating Burmese ethnics), Laos (fierce fighting in the 1980s), Malaysia (alleging Malaysia for supporting the Muslim rebel, and Cambodia (trying to claim Cambodia-owned Preah Vihear)
6. The bloody hatred between the Yellow-shirt and the red shirt supports in the BKK.
7. The crazy yellow shirt demonstration leader (who said during the demonstration that occupying the international airport in BKKwas fun?!?...) became the Minister of FA.
9. The country leaders usually come to power through the coups or street demonstrations.
10. The country has the most cases of H1N1 (about more than 500) in ASEAN region.

Thailand claims as a Buddhist country but disregards the Buddha teaching: Avoiding cheating people, avoiding telling lies, avoiding greed, and showing sympathy…..

May Buddha bless Cambodia!
May Buddha help Thailand turn as humans!

Cambodia

Mr. Abhisit,

The greedier you are, the more dangers you will encounter. You remember, you were almost killed in a plane clash in Cambodia. That was why you delayed your trip for five hours back to your country. Your plane has a technical error!!

Another thing you must remember too is that about three or four weeks ago, your FA Minister Kasit was almost killed by a lightning strike in Koh Kong when he was trying to come to take the road to PP. Another Person who was almost shot dead in BKK a month ago was Sondhi who unusually shows unreasonable hatred to Cambodians. Take Care, Mr. Abhisit!!

I am doubtful why Thai leaders try to convince Hun Sen as individual person in this matter. Is this a trade off? Cambodian public and the whole nation should be aware of Thailand's stance also. Do Thai lealders think that if Hun Sen happy, every thing in Cambodia can be in favor to Thailand because Hun Sen can suppress his own people? Thai Deputy PM, Suthep, should go to explain in Cambodian National Assembly panel, not just explain things secretely with individual person like this if Thailand has honest ideas.

Thai leaders come to explain Hun Sen that their efforts to block Preah Vihear as World Heritage is just to show Thai public that they are doing great and then they can sustain their power, Hun Sen should understand their situation. If Hun Sen is convinced to empathy them, they will have a chance to explain their public supporters in Bangkok, then Cambodia is entrapped in another level. As we Cambodians understood that when Thai troops invaded Cambodia last year, Hun Sen was empathy to then-Thai government, PM Samak. Since then they have been claiming for me through convincing Khmer individual leader to understand Thai situation.

there is nothing to explain, thailand. we all know your true illegal intention against cambodia. by the way, cambodia has the top saying in all of this in the case of our preah vihear temple and surrounding areas that provide easy accessibility to our sacred ancient khmer temple of preah vihear! it's not yours, never! your wishful thinking is nothing to cambodia, we have the final say in all of this! otherwise, we'll see you guys in icj court again, this time with the world as our witnesses and everything will be finalized and permanent so in the future your illegal demand or violation will have repercussion from the entire world! god bless cambodia.

Anonymous said...

don't forget that preah vihear belonged to cambodia; there is no more discussion about that, period! even the surrounding areas came with the icj verdict already. your unilateral map is illegal, thailand! this is the real problem!

Anonymous said...

that was why cambodia took you to court in 1962 so that the world court can help to confirm this very issue already. it was finalized and permanent already; there is nothing to be discuss again, period! what used to it, thailand. cambodia has the top saying in all of this as we are the lawful owner. we all knew your real intention; it is the temple, so stop using the surrounding areas or whatever as an excuse to undermine our khmer sovereignty, etc! it will backfire at you guys! respect the international laws whether you like it or not. law is law, nobody has to like the law, they just have to respect them, that's all!

Anonymous said...

first off, let me remind you again, thailand! cambodia cannot allow thailand to have a joint saying in our listing of our preah vihear temple as a world heritage site because, 1) preah vihear temple belonged to cambodia, meaning cambodia is the sole and lawful owner of this temple site, 2) you cannot force cambodia to do just that as we are not your vessel state, 3) any bilateral decision is up to cambodia to decide, not thailand. let's get that clear first before any talk should go on, really!

sometime i have the feeling why some the majority of siem people look exactly like khmer in appearance? maybe they stole our people too! wake up khmer people! don't forget where your ancestors came from, the khmer empire that is!

This is one lesson learnt from the mistake and misconception experienced that made siamese think Prehvihea temple is theirs, because of a few stupid head/cow head/lobbster head govt. officials who decided to open tourist gate directly from Thai soil into Prehvihea temple, which should never had happended and must not had happended since the outset. The good way is that all tourists must stop at Siem Reap or Phnom Penh and continue their trip to the Temple, not directly from Thailand as Cambodia will lost alot interm of social and economical point of view. Doing so will lead the misunderstanding of the world to think that the temple is belong to Thai as thailand do the marketing from their country to show the world about travelling to temple from thai soil which is the part quiet by Cambodia. Shame to Cambodia stupid head officials who know nothing except getting a few corruption dollars from Thai investors.

SO WE MUST NOT ALLOW THE TOURISTS TO COME DIRECTLY FROM THAI SOIL INTO TEMPLE...INCLUDING THE THAI PEOPLE. THAT BORDER MUST CLOSE FOR SACK OF CAMBODIA AND CAMBODIAN AS WELL AS THE TEMPLE.
