Original report from Phnom Penh
30 July 2009
Foreign Minister Hor Namhong on Thursday urged border committees from Cambodia and Thailand to find a resolution to the ongoing border dispute between the two neighbors.
Hor Namhong made his remarks ahead of a joint border committee meeting scheduled in Bangkok next week, where he will meet with his counterpart Kasit Phiromya.
Hor Namhong told reporters at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs he would push for a resolution to the crisis, which has claimed seven lives in military skirmishes over the past year, and would seek to have the disputed border demarcated.
Thai soldiers entered a disputed area in July 2008 near Preah Vihear temple, which had just been listed as a World Heritage site. The incursion sparked a massive build-up of troops on both sides, and several rounds of talks have failed to resolved the problem.
Var Kimhong, head of Cambodia’s border committee, said the Cambodia side will request from Thailand “a clear date” for the joint committees to find suitable places for border demarcation.
Cambodia and Thailand have approved more than 30 out of 73 sites where markers need to be placed along 805 kilometers of border, he said.

this man, Hor Namhong, is useless. He often makes vague comments in border negotiation with thailand that's why thailand never takes him seriously. Cambodia needs to replace this guy. He's not a good negotiator.
12:13 PM,
You can't replace Hor Namhong. He's a Vietnamese slut just like Hun Sen. You'll have to wait until they all die of AIDS.
It's very hard for we Cambodians and the world to understand Hun Sen's move; with one hand carrying a gun ready to fight with the Thai and the other hand extending to borrow Thai money, knee bowing down, face shnenh snhanhing thanking Thai. And the Cambodian government always claim they are smart, win win win! Could anybody explain this?
shut up already, i don't say you guy that running your mouth like diarrhea do anything productive or good for cambodia for a change. so, stop picking on those of us who did something for the interest of cambodian people! let's make a difference for cambodia for change. stand up and defend cambodia from bias media and bias people, would you!
12:13pm is so right! Whore Num do^ng is weak and fragile, this oldfart is soft!!, he's not a good negotiator with Siamese....you got to be real tough and very serious with greedy-Siamese, otherwise they will not back down, even now they still look down on cambodia! they don't want cambodia to grow"Oil,gas in the sea", they want cambodia to depend on them, this way they'll continue to take advantage...
