On 15 July 2009, the first anniversary of Thai troops invasion of Cambodian territory, especially at the Wat Keo Sekha Kiri Svarak Pagoda, a representative of the Cambodian government demanded that the term “disputed zone between Thailand and Cambodia” be changed to “Cambodian territory zone claimed by Thailand” instead. During a press conference held in the morning of 15 July 2009 at the Council of Ministers, Phay Siphan, secretary of state and spokesman of the Council of Ministers, indicated that he wanted all news media to change the term “disputed zone between Thailand and Cambodia” to “Cambodian territory zone claimed by Thailand.” He added that today is the first anniversary of Thai troops aggression on Cambodian soils, and those aggressors all wore black uniforms to frighten the [Cambodian] population which is still traumatized by the KR members from Pol Pot area, because during that era, the people were subjected to bitter hardship and they suffered vicious punishments, therefore they do not want to see the return of this regime again.
