They both were leaders in different countries: Cambodia and Thailand. When Thailand lost, the loser went to the billionnaire tyrant King Bhumibol, the winner went to then Prince Sihanouk, Chief D'Etat.
About KR, Prince Sihanouk then was not a Leader who created the KR, it was Youn Rouge who created since 1920's or 1930's, King Sihanouk couldn't possibly create it. He was too young.
He was not the leader of KR, he did jon them after most elite crazy students in France already followed Youn Rouge, and after China threatned Cambodia for being friend with the US.
If he didn't Cambodia would be completely taken by Vietnam in a very 1st day, and Vietnamese Communist will kill all Khmers.

Educated and rational oversea Khmers don't hate HM King Sihanouk. But uneducated, educated and irrational Khmers do hate the King because they are ignorant.
