The ongoing pandemic of A (H1N1) flu virus could worsening the country’s ailing economy, bringing down the economic growth rate to minus 1-2 per cent in the forth quarter of the year, vice chairman of the National Economic and Social Development Advisory Board, Worrapol Sokatiyanurak, said on Saturday.
The flu outbreak had affected the country’s investment, tourism and domestic consumption and thus, it is not easy for the gross domestic product growth to return to a positive figure in the last quarter, he added. Mr Worapol disagreed with the idea to seal the country to curb the flu pandemic as it would yield negative outcome rather than positive.
