Thailand lends Cambodia US$40 million for road project

BANGKOK, July 29 (TNA) - The Thai Cabinet on Tuesday approved a Bt1.4 billion (US$ 41.2 million) loan for a highway development project in the neighbouring country of Cambodia, a Thai government spokesman said.

The soft loan will be spent on upgrading Highway Route 68 from Kralanh to Samrong and O-Smach in Cambodia, according to Mr Vachara Kannikar.

Under the 30-year contract, Cambodia will pay 1.5 per cent annual interest, with a grace period for the first 10 years, and will begin repaying the principal from 2019 onward.

The Cabinet decision on loans to Cambodia takes effect without a need to seek parliamentary approval as it is not considered an international agreement under Article 190 of the Constitution, Mr Vachara explained.

The Constitution stipulates that any international agreement is required by law to be presented for parliamentary approval before putting it into practice.

In addition, Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva assigned the National Security Council to consider opening more border crossings with Cambodia to boost border trade and bilateral cooperation.

This is Siam smart politics to buy Hun Sen out of Preah Vihear plus border demarcation picture.

$40 million loan to help build roads along border is an entrapment. Hun Sen must use good eye to see what Siam is up to before border dispute is up on international conference agendas.

Mr. Hun Sen - In the name of Khmer dignity, please DO NOT ACCEPT the loan.

they sure they really do a good job at building good, lasting and permanent highway in cambodia, not just looking like they do it just to get paid, but the job is crappy or sloppy job. we will have to see. can the roads they help build withstand the annual flooding in cambodia and the heavy rain? make sure to supervise and inspect their work so to make sure the roads last permanently and a good work that they are asked to do! if not fire them and make them redo it!

hey, by the way, no corruption practice here by the thailand to buy cambodia's preah vihear settlement either. cambodia cannot attach any assistance to our sovereignty by the way, so don't even try that. this is not the dark age as i would we would like to remind thailand and other neighboring countries as often as we like. this is not the dark ages, you know! so, don't even try to buy cambodia! every issue is separate altogether. if the help, it must be genuine and for fostering good neighborly people, not to buy out cambodia or whatever! leave that out of your dirty, thug-like agenda already because cambodia and khmer people are not falling for that crap again like during the dark ages or something! we love our country, lands and territories and everything in it. we are not stupid and ignorant like you people may have perceived us to be just because we have had bad leaders or ineffective leaders in the past or during the dark ages. we had come a long way and are smarter than before, so don't even try your dispicable, dirty trick with cambodia again, we fight back with tooth and claw and guns and more. so, better change your policy by now and foster friendship with us, not the other way around, thugs race!

$41.2 million, who exactly are going to repay this loan. No government will pay this loan. The younger generation will have to pay all these loan. The government are so corrupted, they will leave nothing for the younger generation except a whole load sh*t of loan to pay back. Our government need to manage their resources more efficient. They need new bright mind in the government hierarchy, too many old folks with stubborn mind and attitudes in the system. They need to retire and get the hell out of there.

The one-eyed hyenas government seeing and smelling Thai's ill-intention piece of meat with its tong dropping down like it hasn't eaten in a long time. To them it's money to be shared in every layers of their ruling government. This is fresh money, never mind it's from Thailand, or anywhere else or what will happen tomorrow to this beloved nation... today it's this money to be shared... What the fuck about SRP opposing... sad but true in the one-eyed government of Hun Sen and all his unethical morality subordinates who never once used their mind to do anything.

A loan is a loan is a loan. NOT!!!! Not from shamelessland. You can smell this rotten corp a mile away that thailand is up to some other things. This loan is approved by the cabinet and not by the usual parliament as for other matters namely the land surrounding Preah Vihear and other areas. They always pulled that line, waiting for the parliamentary decision, and still waiting... You see, politic is like a chess game combined with psychology. They lure a pawn in order to capture something more substantial. It is also like smacking a kid's head. He cries and cries. You feel the neighborhood might get on you and get looked at as a bully, so you appease him with a lolly pop candy to suck on. The kid is now all happy and stop crying. He is too busy sucking on the sweet candy. So who is the sucker (loser) now at the end. You see, you get violated big time and all you get is a miserable sucking lolly pop. There are many other avenues to secure funds for this road. We can then tax appropriately on goods imported from thailand transported on that road in order to recoup the costs. So we demand Respect meaning get the hell to your side of the border first and foremost and real be careful with them at every minute!

1.5% loan is just a trade in for economic advantages from freeeeee market for thailand in cambodia.

Another pie that suckers can turn this cheap loan to their tricks for personal interest again.

I feel that if the Royal Government of Cambodia (RGC) is thinking of loan fund/money, why doesn't the government considers of taking from other countries/sources rather than taking from Siam? Historically, we all knew that Siam never treats and/or respect Cambodian virtually and equally. They (siam) always treat Cambodian people badly with very aggressive acts. You all can see the innocent Cambodian has been killed almost everyday by Siamese troops while they crossed the border to work in Siamese-land (former Khmer Land) without any reason at all.

My heart cries and tears with the bloods, as a Khmer person, and on be half of the Khmer as whole. Thus, the RGC should double consider about this loan and also for the protection of Cambodian people - life is priceless and incomparable...!

Taking loan from the enemy, our nation, dignity and privilege can be degraded by our enemy as well, in many forms...!

Do not trust the blind Prime minister to handling the Thai matters too soft too weak and zero.
Some sources said Poi Pet Thai encroached over the bridge and Hun Sen used his henchmen to kill who dare investigate the matters.
Stand up khmer,
The sun is still rising tomorrow!
