Thai Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva reiterated his opposition to the listing of Preah Vihear temple as a Unesco World Heritage site Tuesday, despite a rejection of the UN agency that the temple be jointly managed.
Abhisit rankled Phnom Penh last month when he suggested that Thailand and Cambodian both maintain the 11th-Century temple, which has become the center of a longstanding military face-off along contested border areas nearby.
Abhisit told Thai media on Tuesday he stood by his position and would not remove the heavily armed troops that have been entrenched along the northern border since July 2008.
Thailand “needs to reserve the right to maintain its opposition to the temple listing,” Abhisit was quoted as saying. He also said the Preah Vihear issue would not affect relations between the two nations in other areas of cooperation.
Abhisit’s remarks follow the rejection of his proposal to Unesco last week and talks between the two governments to diffuse increased tensions and even more military build-ups along the border.
Government spokesman Khieu Kanharith said Tuesday Abhisit’s remarks were a pretext meant to appease the Thai populace.
Thailand has undergone serious political shake-ups in the past year, with protesters forcing the ouster of one administration and replacing it with Abhisit’s.
“His statement is only to deceive the citizens of Thailand, and legally it has no meaning,” Khieu Kanharith said.

There is no such thing that a piece of land indefinetly belong to somebody. Look at the land of United Sates, can anyone tell that the land belong to the indiginous Indians, and the British and Spainiag and also Overseas Cambodians should not be allowed to live on the land. No, CHANGE is the machenism of human evolution.
Joint development is such a good idea to bring peace and economic cooperation. We can seek a solution that allow Cambodia to maintain the ownership of the temple, but the courrounding land can be jointly developed for a tourist resort. They can also ask third party, let say the US, to manage the disputed area and overseeing the development projects there.
Cambodians do not mind to hold US citizen, so there should not be a problem to change your citizenship status. If Cambodia was sold to the US, would anyone be unhappy? rarely. So why so bother to be a Thai citizen, while since so many of you do not like Hun Sen, and Hun Sen's government was ranked in such so bottom.

so what even if the thai voted against the listing of preah vihear as a world heritage site! unesco can still make their decision based on lawful ownership and the majority votes of their board committee and members. so, even vote against it from thailand will actually make no difference because we all know what the thai's intention is. preah vihear can not be joint managed by thailand. cambodia would rather choose another nation to join manage. why would khmer people choose thailand to do that? despite its close proximity to the border of thailand, cambodia still make the final decision as to who we want to have as joint management of this khmer temple, the preah vihear. why? simple answer here, because he don't want the thai to make future claim or whatever to our ancient temple as there are overwhelming evidence with the icj that the thai did try to steal it from cambodia in the past. why should cambodia let thai thief joint in our temple management? don't unesco and the rest of the world know that thailand (siem) was a historical enemy of khmer people! why should be put our national pride and country at stake of thailand taking over our sovereignty? makes no sense, doesn't it? perhaps, cambodia should retaliate thailand by requesting to joint management their gov't as well so it can become a khmer gov't. how would they like that? how about cambodia demand that we joint manage our lost khmer provinces and other ancient khmer ruins that went along with our lost provinces to thailand during the past? how about that for a joint management! if they refuse, they should know how cambodia and khmer people feel about thai involvement in our preah vihear joint management, etc! we rather choose france, the USA, japan, or other country for joint management over thailand. so, stop trying to force cambodia to accept thai as we don't love thailand and don't want to marry thailand; stop harrassing us and forcing us under duress to accept thailand's request. we cannot, so sorry! bye bye thailand!

Cambodia's Prasat Preah Vihear was already listed THE WORLD HERIATEG by UNESCO during its 32nd World Heritage Committee (WHC) Meeting in Canada, last year (www.whc.unesco.org). No such thing called a "review" as claimed by the super-liar siamese and its government. There is even an on-going movement inside the Siamese government proofing that the "sucess" claimed by the thick-face delegation of shamefull siamese government to the recent WHC meeting in Spain, is not true.
The claim was created by the shamefull siamese government to bluff the stupid siamese only. This is according to today issue Rasmei Kampuchea newspaper which reported from a siamese newspaper called "thai rath"
