Cambodia has begun withdrawing some of its troop from its disputed border with Thailand, a move which is likely to ease tensions over the Preah Vihear temple.
Reuters reports the deputy commander in chief of Cambodia's armed forces, General Chea Dara as saying the move is a show of the country's "positive position".
Thailand says it had no plans to follow suit.
The Preah Vihear temple, a 900 year oldHindu Khmer temple, has been a source of tension between the two countries for decades.
The Cambodia and Thailand have been embroiled in a series of standoffs over the temple in the past year, resulting in border skirmishes that claimed the lives of seven troops.
Thailand is challenging a United Nations decision to make the temple a world heritage site under Cambodia's sole jurisdiction.
It wants joint development and supervision of the temple, which could one day become a lucrative tourist site.
Military representatives from both sides agreed on Monday to exercise restraint at the border.
The Cambodian pull-back is due to end on Sunday.

I thought troops withdrawal from the borders can only take place after both sides agreed mutually to do in the same manner. Why unilaterally withdrawal? Does this mean that Cambodia bowed to Thai pressure? Judging from Hun Sen's speech with threats and intimidation in regard to Thai, Hun Sen is not as strong as he said he is. Come on PM, be strong to foreigners the same manner as you are strong to Khmer people. To Khmer people, through clown courts of yours, you put into jail khmers who have different views from yours, but to foreigners you are just chicken.
we all know it was khmer hindu temple, why have to keep trying to mislead people by putting in the word hindu in khmer temple! talking bias and obnoxious journalists, i guess! of course in ancient time, khmer people worship hindu gods, etc during angkor era, however, we don't need to confuse readers by adding more unnecesary adjective like hindu or whatever! i think just write khmer ancient temple is good enough! if people put in the word hindu, it's like trying to be like the siem thugs who we all know try their best to steal from khmer. what else is new with siem thieves? nothing, if you ask me! so, stop adding more stupid words to khmer ancient temples, ok! no wonder khmer people always have problem with siem or thailand! we know who did it! it's called the historical enemies of khmer people, and they are siem, youn and liev (thailand, vietnam and laos). god bless cambodia.
CAMBODIA HAS A STRONG MAN, BUT HE IS REALLY STRONG WITH HIS OWN KHMERS, NOT WITH FOREIGNERS.
FUCK THAILAND AND HUNSEN
KILL YOU MOTHERFUCKERS
FUCK THAILAND AND FUCKING HUNSEN THAT FUCKING GIRL

5:12 AM,
Didn't you hear one Khmer General announced that "Should the need arises we can send troups back to the border in 20 minutes". Weather the 20 minutes response time is realistic or not remain to be seen. To me, I am optimistic that the turn around time can be that fast.
20 minutes? he got ta be kidding dude! you put your pants and shirt on..20 minutes gone!
did Siam's naval ships intimidate Total Oil and Cambo govt?

Do not believe your government's propaganda, which just wanted to save Thailand's face and hide something from the public.
You, Siem, will face a big lost if you don't change your policy to Cambodia.
Your government is aware of the above matter on time, not still stupid like you.
