A surprising turn of event took place when it was announced that Thai troops asked to hold a joint religious celebration with Cambodian troops on 25 August. General Chhum Socheat, spokesman of the ministry of Defense, told The Rasmei Kampuchea newspaper that Cambodia had already agreed with the Thai request to hold this celebration. The celebration may be held at the Ta Thav pass. Chhum Socheat said: “We sent the information to the prime minister [Hun Xen] about the request made by Thai troops, he agreed to it already.” It is hoped that this joint celebration could return the situation marred by border dispute between to the two countries to normal again.

Joint celebration? Of what? For What? And for whom? That's nonsense.

Did Thai ever treat us Khmer as we Khmer are supposed to be treated as dignified owners of the land? Never.

I'm regretful that our leaders easily get fooled into their ill-intended trick.

Their intention is for their troops to have access to, thereby familiarize themselves with, the straigic locations of contested areas, so they will better position themselves to attack us when time permits.

Their other intention is that they want to show to the world that they have good heart and love peace with their less powerful neighbor when in fact they always try all means and ways possbile to claim as theirs everything Khmer--land, temples, artifacts, language, culture, history, etc.

I hope we don't fall into their trap.

whatever! i think we should wait and see how the demarcation of the border at preah vihear go first before celebrating with the siem thugs! they are violating international law on cambodia. there is nothing good to celebrate with them until they respect and properly demarcate the entire border lines!

First Thai had kick us in the face by sending over their people to Wat Keo Sekha Kirisvarak, after that they pretend to sending their army resecue their people? but they invaded us instead, Khmer never learns the lessons! always allowing Thai to look down on and easy taking advantage on....i would say to them fuck off! and get ta fuck out of my lands!!
