Translated from Khmer by Socheata
At least 100 workers at the Rea Garment Corp. factory located along National Road No. 5, Svay Pak commune, Russey Keo district, passed out one after another while working. The cause of the workers passing out is not known and the incident took place at 09:30 AM on 29 August 2009. Ten private and state ambulances were used to bring these workers to the various hospitals and clinics. Khleang Huot, Russei Keo district governor, who came to the incident location to review the situation, claimed that the cause of the incident is not known yet, but he asked the factory owner to pay attention to the workers involved in the incident, including their food cost and hospital bills.

This factory must be held accountable and responsible for the health and well being of the workers. The Ministries of Health and Labor must look into it without delay. And no money under the table so you turn your face the other way on this incident.
people pass out probably due to chemical fumes, lack of fresh air ventilation, or something in that nature, especially when you have 100 or more people pass out. something is wrong in that work place! they should seriously look into correcting the workplace condition there!
I wish the governemnt officials will not blame the workers again. Last time, governemnt officials blamed the workers tried to save money instead of eating for good health.
I can't wait to hear the reaction from the PM. I hope no fault on workers.
because they are so poor they need to overwok just to keep themselves survive.
100 worker pass out in one day ? there must be somthing absolutly wrong about the working inviroment of this factory who ever buy cloth from this factory should heard the news and put pressure to this factory owner.
I have no doubt that the government mouthpiece will come forward to defend the company--not the people.

Hun Xen will not blame factory owner. He will blame his owner people. Life under corrupt regime must be tolerate!
Whilst I do not know much about this type of incidents, I suspect that this a type of mass hysteria. It has something to do with physchology and group behaviors. In Malaysia, these things have happened many times, especially in female school dorminatories where all are girls.
Will some professors in physchology please enlighten us. Of course, the health and medical departments should do their investigstions.
