Fight for the CPP and you may end up being ... unpaid

Disabled Soldiers Protest Absence of Pay

By Chun Sakada, VOA Khmer
Original report from Phnom Penh
07 August 2009

More than 170 disabled former soldiers gathered in protest Friday against the provincial authorities of Banteay Meanchey, who they say have not paid them a raise in their monthly disability benefits.

All disabled soldiers in Cambodia receive monthly compensation of varying amounts depending on rank. Each of the 173 protesters in Banteay Meanchey should receive between 80,000 riel and 250,000 riel, about $20 to $62.

That amount includes a 20 percent bump provided by a directive from Prime Minister Hun Sen in 2008.

But soldiers say they are not seeing the raise in their monthly payments, and that those payments sometimes don’t arrive at all.

Choeung Chanthol, 48, who lost the use of his right arm fight the Khmer Rouge in Thmar Pouk district in 1988, told VOA Khmer the disabled soldiers needed the increase to their payment to cover the increased cost of living.

“Prime Minister Hun Sen provided us with an increase of 20 percent, so we must get it,” he said.

“We need the money, because we are very poor,” said Moeun Sak, 42, who is paralyzed in the left arm and leg. “We do not have any jobs, so we depend on the payment from the government.”

Oum Chantha, chief of Banteay Meanchey’s provincial cabinet, said Friday the authorities have received a request from the disabled soldiers and are working on the problem.

“We will not allow this problem for the disabled,” he said. “All the disabled must wait for the resolution from the provincial governor later this month.”

UNDER AGE CHILD SEX
Cambodian People's Party Hun Sen Khmer Rouge Regime had committed under age child sex.
Svay Sitha is a senior government official from Cambodian People's Party.
Svay Sitha had a sexual relationship with Tat Marina, she was only 16 years old.

ACID ATTACK ON TAT MARINA
Cambodian People's Party Hun Sen Khmer Rouge Regime had committed acid attack.
"On December 5, 1999, Tat Marina, age 16, was severely disfigured in an acid attack in Phnom Penh. The attack was allegedly committed by Khun Sophal, the wife of a senior government official, Svay Sitha, because she was angry her husband had a sexual relationship with Tat Marina. Neither Khun Sophal nor those suspected of being her accomplices in the attack were brought to justice. Intense media publicity compelled the Phnom Penh Municipal Court to issue an arrest warrant for Khun Sophal for attempted murder, but the police claimed that they could not locate her, although journalists reported that she was living at home as usual."

TORTURE AND MURDER ON PRAK SITHA WHILE IN CUSTODY BY MISNISTRY OF INTERIOR OFFICIAL
Cambodian People's Party Hun Sen Khmer Rouge Regime had committed torture and murder.
"On the night of January 16, 2003, a street youth named Prak Sitha was beaten to death at the Ministry of Interior (MOI) headquarters after he was arrested and detained by off-duty MOI officers on suspicion of theft. His body - bearing numerous injuries to the head, torso, arms, and legs - was dumped at a Phnom Penh pagoda the following morning by ministry officers, in violation of police regulations regarding deaths in custody. No criminal charges were filed in connection with this death. In December 2004, the case was cited by the UN secretary-general's special representative for human rights in Cambodia - who stated that Prak Sitha died at the ministry "following beatings by a known police officer" - as an example of a "consistent and continuing pattern of impunity" in Cambodia."

"On September 4, 2008, Mean Sokchea, a RCAF major working in Brigade 70, shot dead 21-year-old waitress Put Samphors at a restaurant in Kandal province. Mean Sokchea, in a drunken stupor, fired his gun and apparently mistakenly hit Put Samphors in the stomach. She was taken to a hospital but later died of her wounds. Mean Sokchea was detained by the police overnight but was then released, allegedly after intervention by Hing Bun Heang. Put Samphor's family received US$2,700 from Mean Sokchea, and the police told them that their daughter was shot while authorities were chasing robbers."

the problems are of society at large, thanks to the aftermath of the KR. it probably has nothing to do with anyone in particular. it's called social problems, every society has social problems; cambodia is no exception. hello, wake up, people. be proactive for a change, perhaps, that can help to make a real difference in cambodia for all. god bless.

You're khmer? I thought you're ah lop washed up Khmer that fled Cambodia? Aren't you something else now? lol You can't even vote in Cambodia now, can you? From logics, you're not Cambodian to me. sucker haha

Anonymous said...

And what is LOGIC to you 8;17am?
No I am not Cambodian but I am Khmer.

8:21 AM

1) yes you're right you're not Cambodian lol. Lot of people missed the whole nationality and ethnicity.
2) do you call yourself "pure" khmer or the "real" khmer?

I'm just sick of people going around calling themselves the real khmer and talk down on others who they think so inferior to them because they are chinese, vietnamese, etc... mixed Khmer. There is no real racial purity. Let's look at who promotes false racial purity as a preface to their somewhat cynical intention:

The Nazi killing Jews and Russian slavics because they think Jews and slavics are sub human, much like how some fucking asshole racist Khmer do to the viets.

The KKK, killing blacks for the same reasons as the Nazi, inferiority belief of the "other."

I used to believe that the Viets are sub human and animals bc that was how I was raised up on to believe. But, as I grew up I learned and I realized all the hatred and belief of inferiority between races are purely man made to serve whatever disgusting purpose that one race has on other.

Now you would say the Viets do look down on Khmer. What then? So? It's their problem. If they choose to be racist and believe in the fucking superior race bullshit, it's their problems. When you get robbed, do you go and rob the robber back? When some idiot jumped off a bridge, do you go and do it too?

Responding to idiocy with the same mentality and behavior just shows that you're as low as them. Let the idiots be idiots and be the bigger man and receive them with the conduct of a gentleman and civilized human being is what makes you different from them.

That is the reason why we Khmer look much more sharper and proper compared to the Thai regarding the Preah Vihear issues to the international community. We maintain our cool and patience when a neighbor acts a fool toward us. If we lost our cool and starts acting like an idiot like how the Thai did to us, do you think the international community listen to us more?

It's when you can still maintain a proper conduct of a gentlemen in the face of idiocy that you're perceived and taken more seriously than the idiot.

You act an idiot back to the idiot, they just label you as the same.

To all belove Khmer,

You are not deserve to be Khmer, Khmer Australian, or Khmer American...etc if you are not support or donate money to SRP and dares to support the CPP. Despite, we have hidden this policy because Hun Sen and CPP can mocking on us but SRP and our supporters will carry this policy until we win the election. In addition, whoever dares to post any topic in this forum which doesn't support SRP, we will use very bad languages to hunt you down. We are the best in using bad languages against Hun Sen and the CPP.

The opposition (SRP) has no policy to force any Khmer to support us, but if any Khmer dares to support the CPP, SRP and our supporters will brand you as Youn.

Feel threatened by a well thought out comment, you fucking piece of shit? lol Yea I think you are. When you feel the need to call others to not listen to someone, you are obviously feeling threatened by those people because their thoughts make a lot of sense and many times against your pathetic mentality as an excuse of a human being, ah dog lol.

What happens to freedom of speech? You only preach it when it was yours? but promote censorship when others express theirs? Your mother should have never given birth to a hypocrite piece of shit or maybe that is just how your bloodline runs, hypocrisy and self-importance fuckers.

Anonymous said...

We like democracy and always respect the freedom of speech, but we really hate whoever support Hun Sen's regime and the CPP.

I do agree the idea that whoever supports the CPP must not call him/herself as Khmer. Khmer have to support SRP and donate money as much as you can to help our party in fighting with CPP.

From SRP's supporter in USA

But, still fighting for SRP means JAIL. Behave smart, boys. Think about the majorities who need your help, and you must act smartly.

Hun Sen owned the country so these men who served the country cannot serve it anymore and they're no longer important for Hun Sen.

i told you, good politicians are good at finding an excuse for their political gain! a good example here. that said, of course, cambodia must help the disabled veterans. it is so obvious this man is losing a leg. he's not faking, you know!
