Veticar.com is a Phnom Penh-based news web portal that recently appears on the web. This professional and polished web portal includes several new articles from pro-government and pro-CPP newspapers.
We also noted that Veticar is posting several Khmer Oldies songs by the famous Cambodian singer Sin Sisamouth. However, to our surprise, we found that, among the songs posted by Veticar, an anti-Sihanouk song titled “Av Yoan Ké Mer” (The Yantra Shirt, a heritage from Mother) is also featured there. This song first appeared in the 70s, following the coup d’état toppling then-Prince Sihanouk by General Lon Nol. The lyrics of the song talk about a man leaving to the front to defend the country and the lands that “were sold to the Vietcong by the king, the traitor of the nation and the religion.”
This song was also heavily broadcasted in 2006 by Hun Sen’s controlled radio stations prior to his administration’s signing of the Supplemental border treaty to the illegal 1985 border treaty concluded with the occupying Vietnamese troops. Hun Sen ordered the broadcasting of anti-Sihanouk material because, at that time, the former king opposed this supplemental border treaty. Through this broadcasting, Hun Sen wanted to prove that he was not the only one concluding treaties with Vietnam.
In any case, we hope that our note will not force Veticar from removing this piece of history from its website, younger generations of Cambodians need to learn all the facets of our history, whether they are ugly or not.

Goose bumps all over! It's all coming back, hearing this song. Remember listening to it on a pocket size radio during the night duty. Remember the attack into Phnom Penh by the revolutionary force on Pchum Ben day 1971(?), the next morning corpses of both the Khmer Rouge and the Cong Chor soldiers were placed out in the street for media to witness the involvement of the N. Vietnam.
mr. sin sisamouth has one of the most beautiful khmer voices out there. we all sure missed him a lot, along with ms. ros sereysothea, ms. pen ron, and so forth.
well, i think this song shows how a real democracy should be. the ex-king, although may dislike this song, should not discourage it because it is the truth, not shouldn't be oppressed people who want to listen to it for recreational purpose. in a real freedom society, songs like this should not be banned as because it's not even profanity or cursing, it just describes the reality of things of that time era. get used to it. it's not that bad! plus, people like to hear sin sisamouth's beautiful voice anyway. please think smartly. cambodia and khmer people should not live in fear of political repercussion anymore. cambodia and khmer people is no longer in the dark age or stone age, so, it's a free society now to listen to whatever people like! we can't just try to please only one person anymore. nowadays, it's should be about cambodia, and there is more to cambodia than you and i. please keep this in mind!
Remind me of my dad troop ran around with the Viet cong bombarded and got killed by the Vietcong knives , Sihaknuk called for Cambodian people to join Prey Marky from Peking radio.

Sin Sisamouth is forever a Khmer hero, he made Khmer language the most romantic of all.
i went to see those blown up corpses in 1971...I was 10 years-old...first time in my life to see war casualty...no longer immuned after that...those KR/VC rockets fell all aound Phnom Penh...saw too many deads and woundeds...
If Hun Sen loves this song, he should show his action as a great defender of our motherland, but instead he is worse than Shanouk.
Sihanouk sometimes dares to oppose and challenge the Vietnamese but Hun Sen never ever in any circomstance.
Sin Sisamut was just an artist to sing whatever Lon Nol asking him to sing to.
Sihanouk is a good Khmer King and not like Thai king Bhumibol using right hand to kill or put people in jail and using his left hand to pardon to make him look like God.
Veticar is in Khmer languages with Khmer songs, but the supervisors are Khmer new faces from Vietnam.
Another ugly and dirty fight of Vietnamese is to divide Khmers when China now controls water. Hun Sen was threatned to be burned alive if he didn't sign the treaty. He was forced to say it and even Hun Sen's biography was designed by Vietnamese.
The King did not sell Cambodia to Evil Viets, it was French who gave Cambodia, Laos and KK to Vietnam. It was on the French map.
I won't let this to propaganda bother my mind, knowing Vietnamese are all over in Cambodia.

Very clear, KI is being infiltrated by the Vietnamese spies just like in the Global witness. Also the posters many are Viets. This post is to stir Khmers to even more divide though this was not truth. The King sold no Khmer land to Youn, it was Youn who stole Cambodia through French colony.
The term "Youn" was not allowed to use in Cambodia. Many Khmers who dared to use that term in the public will be disappeared or be shot.
This song was created by Vietnamese while the King refused to sign, and Hun Sen was put to bite the King. The land of Cambodia was taken again by the Vietanmese through French colony.

We have a duty to tell the younger and new khmer generation truths on Vietnam that we consider our hereditary enemy to avoid errors of Pol Pot.
Vietnam is today a country of 85 million inhabitants. He has 10 centuries to fight and free themselves from colonialism Chinese. He fought militarily victoriously in 1954 the french colonial empire. The french who were the protectors of Cambodia in the recent past.
He fought military victoriously the U.S. , the first military and economic power in the world in 1975.
He fought militarily victoriously Pol Pot’s armies in January 1979 after only one week of fighting. He also fought the Chinese army in 1979 after a war over 30 years with the U.S. and the war against the khmers rouge Pol Pot who fought military victory .
Vietnam, the hereditary enemy of Cambodia presents an impressive military record. Yesterdays enemies of vietnam like France, the US is very impressed by the winners. The Chinese think twice before to attack vietnam and when the Chinese attack Vietnam, the Chinese are careful not to last long war with Vietnam and does not stay long in Vietnam, because the Chinese are wary of these Vietnamese.
To win the war against his enemy, it must be known well his enemy.

They spoke Khmer and their names were Khmers just like Khmers; and the infiltration was heavily during the Vietnamese revolution leaders like Phan Boi Chau 1900's and many more started to recruit the people in Indochina to join Viet Rouge to oust French and that was before King Sihanouk was born.
On the French map, Kampuchea Krom, Cambodia and Laos were belonged to one Vietnam.
-Sihanouk of Cambodia was flirting with the US at first, but Mao of China strongly reprimanded Cambodia, and Stalin of Soviet ordered Mao to supervise Ho Chi Minh because Stalin didn't trust Ho Chi Minh after he cheated French (New History by John Lewis Gaddis).

Either way, the Vietnamese will use all possible means to kill Khmers like they did to Chinese army in the past and they continue to kill most of the indigenious people in Vietnam.

I think Lee D. may be taken from a great debate of Cambodia by the west and from "New History Book wrote by Gaddis", and perhaps from the History of Vietnamese Revolutionist leaders in 1900's.
You're taking about the poor Vietnamese or could be spies along Tonlesap, but I think Lee may be talking about the Khmers of decent Vietnamese and the real Khmer peasants who worked for the Vietnamese as Khmer governmnet employees such as in army.
No it was not 30 years that Cambodia quietly controlled Vietnamese, it went back at least during the French colony. If not why a few Vietnamese revolutionsist like Phan Boi Chau didn't go deep inside Cambodia and recruited Khmer peasants to join Viet Rouge.
May be after the great debate, New history will tell us more.

This old proverb "Cheang min keut tov bontos dek" is being proved not accurate. It's 50/50%. Sometime the tools we use to operate our work don't work properly, sometime the tools are good design but the users lack of knowledge to operate it.
In the case of Cambodia, the leaders are not educated people and are Vietnamese's puppets, so the are not in the position to lead but it is only a symbol, whereas the Vietnamese new faces Khmers are the people who are behind drive Cambodia gain most. And to answer to the old proverb, yes it's been proved to be corrected for Hun Sen.

How do you know Khmer leaders such as King Sihanouk didn't back Gen Lon Nol?
If King Sihanouk's War strategy be known by others, we will all be dead. He was educated in the military school in France.
Clinton administration and the UN failed to disarm the CPP and when the CPP lost the UN was in Cambodia. Why did Hun Sen threat to bring a civil war? Because CPP has army. There were letters sent from former employees of the UN admitted taht UN was corrupted and took bribes from Vietam.
A lot of things we don't know about and I thing putting blame only King Sihanouk is not right.
