The Thai Royal Navy conducted a major naval exercise which included an aircraft carrier and several battleships near Koh Kut Island. The naval exercise was conducted as a show of force to Cambodia after the Cambodian government authorized the Total oil company to explore for oil in the nearby waters.
Chhum Socheat, spokesman for the Cambodian ministry of Defense, told Rasmei Kampuchea over the phone in the afternoon of 20 August that Thailand conducted its naval exercise in the Koh Kut region for more than one week already, starting from Sunday 09 August to 17 August. The exercise included 10 ships: standard ships, an aircraft carrier and several battleships.
Chhum Socheat indicated that, following the naval exercise, Thailand left behind 3 ships in the region. Thailand undertook the exercise after it protested Cambodia’s agreement to allow to the French Total company to explore for oil.
In addition its protest, Thailand also strengthened its force near Koh Kut region to oppose the agreement concluded between Cambodia and Total for oil exploration. Thailand also built a navy base in the region.
Koy Kuong, spokesman for the Cambodian ministry of Foreign Affairs, said on Thursday afternoon that: “Cambodia has the full right to provide a concession to the Total company to explore for oil in this region.” He explained that this agreement was for oil exploration only and it was not for commercial oil production. Furthermore, in the past, Thailand also gave out concessions to the US Chevron company and to the Japanese Mitsui company to explore for oil in the overlapping region. Thailand did not inform Cambodia about its concession grants and Cambodia did not issue any protest.
Facing with the tense maritime border situation, Thailand accused Cambodia of patrolling inside the overlapping zone, a Thai news media reported. However, Chhum Socheat rejected this report by the Bangkok Post. The Bangkok Post also reported that Thailand’s ministry of Defense plans to strongly protest the Cambodian patrol in the overlapping area near Koh Kut Island, Trat province. Thailand’s protest will be sent through its ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The Bangkok Post reported that two Cambodian ships were found patrolling in the disputed area last week. Thailand accused the patrols of violation on the agreement for the administration of the overlapping area which requires that both countries inform each other about any patrolling plan, or any plan that requires joint cooperation. The Bangkok Post did not provide the source of its report.
Nevertheless, Chhum Socheat vehemently denied this report. He said: “The Cambodian ministry of Defense rejects this patrol [claim].” He added that this is disinformation.
Thailand made this accusation against Cambodia after it sent an apology to Cambodia for its repeated violations of Cambodia’s airspace.

If we cannot topple the current government, might as well let the Thai do it for us. I'm sure that the Hun's regime is pissing in their pants now. Remember that KHMER people are suffering whether we're going to war with Thailand or not.
When the notorious Tuol Krasaing is destroyed, KHMER people can clean up the rest.

cambodia dont need no aircraft carrier or battleships, We have flip-flop wearing x khmer rouge and buny ray that can beat anyone in a fight
Thai Air Force:
If war erupted, aim for Tuol Krasaing compound(Google will be more than happy to provide the GPS coordinate)to avoid collateral damage.

Ancient ruins, Khmer (Cambodian) temple towers, Sukhotai, Thailand
This is one of the few buildings that still exists from the Khmer era. At that time, the city was a minor outpost of the Khmer (Cambodian) Empire.
agree totally with Janitor!

I'm just keeping my fingers crossed in hopes to have my dreams come true.
Once the Tuol Krasaing compound is obliterated, you and everyone and I will celebrate.

Watch out fellow Khmers! Who to say that the individual posted as “Janitor” is not an evil youn trying to create instability in the country. Youn’s short term goal is to create a conflict between Cambodia and Thailand. When the war breaks out, Cambodia will be weaken and the evil youns will be able to strengthen their control on our country.
The stupid Thais are falling in the eveil youns’ trap now. But we Khmers must not allowed ourselves to fall in the same trap.
Guys - if the idiot thais want to bark, let them bark. Don't pay attention to them. The battles will be fought on land, not at sea. Their naval strength won't have much impact on the mountain or jungle warfare.
For the time being, Cambodia armed forces should focus on the onland strategy, and ignore the thai parade at sea.
Jungle war is very easy to defeat. All you need is CHEMICAL weapon.Using aircraft to spray on the jungle days in and days out until every single soul are expose.
Thai warship can't go far, they just picked up it from their junk back yard to scare Cambodia that Thailand has some warshit. Thailand can't afford to maintain that warship like a few years ago.
Just like those Thais sent email scaring the DAP news that Thais can eat the human being that copied from China.
for your information, i don't think thailand has any aircraft carrier because aircraft carrier uses nuclear energy. only a handful of superpower nations like the USA, france, england russia and a few more have aircraft carrier. that is a bully by thailand. fuck them!
Cambodia need to buy more anti-aircraft missile that capable shooting down planes, the most powerful one! cambodia is small country, do not have alot of big things like big country, so, cambodia really needed field missile to take down any planes from greedy neighbors....or aggressor neighbors!!
Cambodia already has SAM-7, but is not enough, we needed something that supper strong for taking down aircraft, especially F-16 fighter jet...
