This kind of load should be stopped. It is very dangerous not only for themselves but for others sharing the road. This is why Cambodia has the highest rate of road accidence.

Mr Hun must admire khmer for being so talented, but dangerous adventure. Not for him and cronies when they are driving lexus or hummer, plus police, plus military police, plus body guards, plus his very own cheering crowd(the yes minister crowd).

I agree with 7:47am! police, authority must stop or punish, fine$$ this kind of overload transport, this is dangerous, people should use the three wheels towing instead, if they want this kind of loads....?

A long list of debate coming out of this picture:

- When they are backing against the wall, they will do anything to get out of it, like we all did when we were under the khmer rouge.

- With all these stuffs, perhaps take him 3 trips. There goes the time and earnings for whatever he is doing, considering that the current gas price is almost $1 a litre (about $3.75 a US gallon). Where is his livelihood?

- This poses a public safety and the safety of the driver/passenger ( note that the lady passenger is wearing no helmet. I saw similar pictures where passenger on a motocycle wearing no helmet)

- Enforcing traffic safety is one thing and paying bribe to violate it is another story.

Hun Sen you need to open your one eye to see this kind of life that people take to make a living. You think you are the best, but best for nothing, you loan money from overseas hust to support your curruptions team. You needs to stop that kind of attitude and think about people. I see only the same face of people in your government, and they are getting richer and richer but people are getting poorer... You are an idiot you need to listen to people and work for the peopl.

No, he didn't give a shit about that. What he care most is his power, wealth and his croonies.

Cambodia should pass the law about these overload transport, i've seen a lot of overload pickup truck, like nissan pickup, they used to called them, "Ah Pdach Pro Lueng!" i think cambodia officials must rule out and get rid of these kind of overload transport, this is very very dangerous.....

What you've seen here is nothing but a life struggle to survive of everyday khmer .Life is so hard for ordinary citizen except the very few of CPP who have everything .Don't ask for their hard earned money.

people don't realize how dangerous it is to transport like this in cambodia. i think in rural area is ok as there's not a lot of traffic in rural area, however, in the larger cities like phnom penh, siem reap, battambang, sihanoukville, etc..., people should be educated on safety and traffic law. it's for their own safety as well as others. i mean, in the past decades, it was ok to do this, but think again, in this day and age, cambodia has developed a lot, life is in a faster pace, they put themselves and others in danger of traffic accident, if they don't be educated on new traffic law, etc... think about it, cambodia has changed a lot.

people have no concept of safety! please help to educate everyone in cambodia. thank you.

Hun Xen don't care at all. All he cares is we get cited, he will be excited.

Man! with this kind of load, if someone just bumps into alittle bit that's it!! dangerous! dangerous!

Anonymous said...

Granted it is dangerous, but please!! I've seen this type of thing and far worse loading (such as sheets of glass between passengers many many times. I think pictures like this depict the spirit of the country and since when did anyone wear helmets in cambodia, didn't know they'd even heard of them? My Mother in law rides like this everywhere. Like i said, it is dangerous but this is nothing to do with Hun Xen or any political popaganda, people in cambodia have always and will always do this because they see no harm in it, of course there is harm, but does every picture and article have to relate back to corruption and government? Chill everybody, just a photo .

hey, stop blame anyone for this kind of problem. i see this kind of sites all over asia and the world for that matter. anyway, it calls for reforms in cambodia's people thinking so society in cambodia can understand the danger of this. man, god forbid this in the USA, you will get fine big time if the police in america see you like this. boy, cambodia still has a long way to catch up with america's standard of living, etc... that said, i guess in asia, people are just trying to make a living any way they can. this is a good example of that. god bless cambodia.

Anonymous said...

what is wrong with this picture? if the driver is required to wear the helmet? what about the passenger and the crowded ride? that in itself is dangerous! my god, we should ask america for training in traffic law in cambodia. i mean it in a good way.

Anonymous said...

Traffic in cambodia is suck! i rent one of the three wheeler-moto, to take me back to the airport, the driver went on opposits way, i meant one way traffic? this fucken guy scared the shit out of me!! no cop or any authority bother to do anything? it's seem very normal to them...? i would never dare to drive a car or something in cambodia....forget it!

correction = opposite way

Anonymous said...

That is why accident happening every single day in Phnom penh city....

Anonymous said...

Accident happened mostly caused by the offspring of the rich and powerful who are so disrespectful to traffic law and the polices who enforce it, and not whatsoever by this poor people who struggle to survive day in and day out.

what you are saying here is called the "co-dependency" mentality, meaning the children of the rich and famous, the powerful and the affluent, etc are depending or using their parents' privilege and influential position, and of course, they are abusing it. i think there ought to be a new law to curb or protect everyone from this kind of "co-dependency" attitude like this. people do committed injustice and breaking the law should be penalized like everybody else who otherwise have no connection, etc... this is the only way to educate them to respect everyone's rights! trust me, this seems like a culture, and it's nothing new in cambodia regards to this mentality; i think cambodia ought to introduce tough law to discourage this kind of power and privileged abuse in cambodia. god bless cambodia.
