A high ranking Cambodian government official reacted on Monday to Thailand’s formation of a naval base in Koh Kut Island, located in Trat Province. The Cambodian official called the formation of this naval base a violation of the 2000 MOU (Memorandum of Understanding) between Cambodia and Thailand, and that it is a threat to Cambodia’s national security as well. Phay Siphan, spokesman of the Council of Ministers, made this statement after reports indicated that Thai royal navy battleships were ordered to patrol near the overlapping waters between Thailand and Cambodia in order to counter any action taken by Cambodia. Phay Siphan told RFA: “Therefore, the naval threat will affect the national security of the kingdom of Cambodia. Furthermore, the use of troops to resolve border issues or to protect waters in the Thai-Cambodian Gulf is not in agreement with the 2000 MOU.” Phay Siphan said that Cambodia will deliver a diplomatic note to Thailand for its sending of battleships to the overlapping sea waters area.

Hun Sen has been flexing his muscles against the oppositions parties last week and saying that he can take over Phnom Penh within 2 hours . Does he have the guts to say that to the outsiders ? or is he only strong against his own people who are powerless and poor ? It has been more than a year now since the Preah Vihear conflict but nothing has been done .. now another conflict just started , where is Hun Sen ? I want to see Hun Sen flex his muscles against thai just like he did to the opposition parties.
Thai Government , please send more war ships to the area but just don't cross the border . If a strongman Hun Sen is a warrior like he said , he won't be on his knee and imploring for a peaceful solution .

I think our cambodia has to keep up improving their military power step by step, because nieghbors country already got big muscle! if we don't step up and upgraded our military power, our country will face more threaten again and again in the future, Cambodia got some money right now! and should try alittle a bit at the time, we really needed modernize Weapons, modernize Tanks, airfield missle"SA-3" for protecting our airspace, Navy Ship, WarShip for our waters, Cambodia can place installment plans with N.Korea or China, Russia....CAMBODIA MUST DO SO!
