US Senator Jim Webb, a Democrat from Virginia, is on a two-week tour to five Southeast Asian countries, including Cambodia, exploring opportunities to advance US interests in the region, officials said.

The senator left on Sunday for a visit to Burma, Thailand, Laos, Vietnam and Cambodia, a statement from his office said.

The US Embassy in Phnom Penh was working on a schedule for Webb to meet with Cambodians on a brief stopover here, officials said.

The senator’s visit was welcomed by Cambodians, who have seen relations with the US improve steadily since the country withdrew aid in 1997. Most recently, Cambodia was removed from a US list of countries considered Marxist-Leninist, paving the way for more trade.

“The removal of Cambodia from the US trade blacklist is seen as helping alleviate the living conditions of Cambodians, especially those who live below the poverty line,” said Nguon Nhel, vice president of the National Assembly. “This trade will bring in more investors and exchange of goods.”

Webb, a former soldier, defense planner, writer and business consultant, is the chairman of the East Asia and Pacific Affairs Subcommittee, overseeing US relations in the region and building relationship with organizations such as Asean.

He was a die hard REP then he changed to DEM after he married a
2nd Vietnamese wife. His trip to Cambodia is all about to isolate everyone from China. Did we read a few PhD Viets made their cases against China's DAM? Cambodia should play cards careful. Today US embraces Vietnamm Cambodia should embraces both China and Vietnam.

cambodia, be careful with the americans that with youn wife, they come to work in cambodia with the wife influence and would not benefit cambodia. just becasue they have asian wife, has nothing to do with them fitted for the post in cambodia or something. they forget that khmer people hate youn and if their wife is youn and they come to work in cambodia, khmer people don't trust them. remember the former US ambassador who was posted to cambodia and married a youn wife? maybe he's thinking just because he's married an asian wife that asian people like him or something! not!! especially youn wife, cambodia don't like that. don't come work in cambodia if you marry youn wife! khmer people will look down on your youn wife because we don't trust youn bitches! so be educated already! we prefer real american couple like the last US ambassador mr and ms mouselamo, i forget his name, but you know what i mean here! we prefer this type more! thank you and god bless cambodia.

Jim Webb will change to REP when things go on his Vietnamese wife's political ambition in the US. Yep he was a die hard REP. He just changed to DEM when he has 2nd wife is Vietnamese and when he saw the DEM would lead. The US has been infiltrated by Communists and Muslims. Obama is not to blamed, he is just a puppet of those who used him, because he is their race baiting.

If Jim Webb thinks his Vietnamese wife can influnence those asian nations to stay away from China he is wrong. To isolate China from those asian nations or from other nations? Jim Webb wouldn't make it.
It is a mission of Jim Webb to protect Vietnam from China's DAM.

People today are too smart, tehy know what Jim Webb has been up to.
