The September 2006 military coup will not be the last because the constitutional amendment proposals are a political time bomb, former Thammasat University rector Charnwit Kasetsiri said on Thursday.
His was speaking at a forum on “The way out of social, economic and political crisis” organised by the university.
Mr Charnwit also said the failure of the old political party to win the hearts of most people through its populist policies amounted to a second political time bomb.
“The country is likely to face a political tsunami as there is no solution to the social, economic and political problems”, he said said.
He was concerned that there could be a state of lawlessness in the country because the Preah Vihear dispute with Cambodia, which should have been put to rest five decades ago, was being used to provoke political conflict.
Mr Charnwit suggested four solutions;
1) Create a sense of unity between the grassroots and the middle and high classes in Bangkok and other big cities.
2) The 2007 constitution should be rewritten to ensure a true democracy.
3) The monarchy must be enshrined as the country’s highest institution to prevent it from being exploited for political gain by any particular group.
4) The military, civil and and justice arms of government must be free from political interference.
If these four factors did not materialise the country would never escape the continual upheaval, he concluded.

You're absolutely correct! Thai should put this case to rest five decades ago. They need to learn to accept reality. Look at us (Khmer), we had lost so much (tremendous), from lands to tradition, cultures, natural resources and many many more.
If you Thai want to play the hard way, we Khmer can stir up the unrest in the provinces that have Khmer populations. We still have good amount of 30million Khmer currently living in those provinces that surround our borders now. We had accepted the reality. Look at Khmer Kampuchea Krom, that is a huge land to be lost unfairly to Vietnam by the French signed over to the Vietnam.
I'm sure there is a lot of Thai scholars scolding some stupid leaders too.
Thai can't do anything to Cambodia in this modern era. They can't reclaim anything, there will be the other way around that Khmer will propose them back the lost provinces.
Karma Ma Karma Pai!!!
May Emerald Buddha save all people to live peacefully.

Thai will be destroyed from the inside out. The end of Thai is near when Ah-Bhumbibol is gone from this earth.
i told you, nothing lasts forever. the siem might have been well-known in the world over when cambodia and khmer people were preoccupied with civil conflict, war, poverty, underdevelopment, etc... however, i see better thing in the future for my beloved cambodia. so nothing will stay the same, especially good and better changes are coming to cambodia, and it is thailand or siem's turn to surfer the same fate cambodia had in the past few decade. who say good time can last forever? get used to it, thailand; cambodia is an independent country, and we are changing fast and growing too. so stop bullying us, we will fight back, stupid thieves!
get lost siem thieves, cambodia's preah vihear and surrounding lands is not yours and will never be yours! go back to nancho province of china where you came from, ok! leave cambodia alone! god bless cambodia.
Yeah that's right!
Lucky enough that we don't stir up those Khmer living in Thailand to rise up!!!
That's what the Albanian did to Kosovo in Yugoslavia to rise up...
hey, 2:38am, we're talking unity here, not breakerage, ok! we see how you think here! bad idea!
who cares, let thailand break apart, ok!
Consider Thailand still has intelligent like former Thamasatra U. Rector not stupid like Abhishit, other thai leaders and tai king.
DO NOT USE POPULIST POLICY AND NATIONAL SENTIMENTAL TO GAIN THE POWER BY LOOKING DOWN CAMBODIA. THIS IS THE 21ST CENTURY...YOU WILL GET KAMA BACK...
YEAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH FUCK THAILAND
FUCK ABSHIT.....FUCK THE THAI KING
THAILAND BELONGS TO KINGDOM OF CAMBODIA
WE WILL PUT ALL YOU FUCKING DUMB THAIS ON A BOAT WITH C-4 ON IT, SEND YOU OUT TO SEA AND BLOW YOU THE FUCK UP
FUCK THAILAND
It's good that the US has to put Thailand in its PWL. Thailand is the worst nation of the IP offender in the world. According to the US, most software that Thais use in Thailand are copied that doesn't count movie, song, clothes, luxury stuff are all copied included the US Kaletra of Abbott and Favirenz of Merck.
Dear Thais,
You must learn your turmoil in the year 1960's by claiming the Preah Vihear Temple.
Please do not so greedy by this illegal claim of land 4.6 sqkm around the Temple. It is Khmer Land and not yours. Stop doing such stupid thing or not you will get an upheaval in your country.
Please be a good neighbour and develop our country by our own means and no interference in each other internal affairs as stated in the ASEAN Charter.
Thank You.
