Dear Ambassador Rodley:
We write today to ask the assistance of the U.S. Embassy in Phnom Penh in ensuring that three Cambodian individuals who recently traveled to the United States to speak at a congressional hearing do not come under any pressure from the government of Cambodia.
As you may know, the Tom Lantos Human Rights Commission held a hearing on Thursday, September 10, on human rights and the rule of law in Cambodia. We were fortunate to have the following individuals travel from Cambodia to share with us firsthand accounts of the current situation: Mu Sochua, member of Parliament; Pung Kek, founder of the Cambodian League for the Promotion and Defense of Human Rights, and Moeun Tola, head of the labor program at the Community Legal and Education Center.
The U.S. Embassy should represent an island of freedom in a country such as Cambodia where dissidents and human rights defenders often face threats and discrimination by the government and government-controlled security forces. Such is the case with Mu Sochua who was stripped of her Parliamentary immunity and sued for defaming Prime Minister Hun Sen.
We ask that the embassy monitor the fate of these individuals upon their return to Cambodia and keep members of Congress informed.

This letter proves US is quite aware of CPP schemes in arresting or persecuting critics including elected parliamentarians. The records show CPP practices it in the past as well.

Youn killed Khmer 2-3 million with the K-5 plan.

Exactly right, the Cambodian people here mostly say ‘Kilometer’ and ‘Mile’ as well. I learned English here I know the basic words to use and say. I am fluency in English at work every day here so I say ‘Mile’ when writing. Is there any thing that I need to improve? I am in Cambodia I work night shift and sometime day shift. M y home is in Srok ‘Phdah’, Phum ‘Phdah’ about six miles from Angkor Wat temple. In Cambodia, don’t you think Cambodian people here are stupid not know English like the Cambodian people live abroad. We have modern university and school like where you are, the student graduate every year from the university. In fact, we have lot of smart people then you here in Cambodia. I’ve seen Cambodia people travel from United States; some of them are stupid, why? They cannot write well in English language. So we are not stupid here in Cambodia.

So can I say that you did not know much about politic? At 16, you were forced to join the KR, or you joined that Maoist movement blindly. In 1993 AKASI, UNTAC Election chair. in Cambodia informed Khmers leaders and Participants in Khmer election Political Parties avoiding name calling YOUN in lieu using Vietnan, since then the YOUN language was changed to Vietnam mainly in PPU and its supporter, it was complained by YOUN.
AKASI was stated that Call YOUN was an act as dicrimanatory remarks; and many observers blaimed Khmers as a racist country; indeed we Khmers, are the victims of being discriminated, to be eliminated by youn & chinese from our lands by its puppets, politically or economically in the long run..

Yes, I have been visiting Cambodia many times, and recently in 2005. During each visit I noticed that the number of the beggars are increasing at an alarming rate. What can those beggars say since Hun Sen himself is a beggar. In case you don't know most money contribute to Hun Sen government, intended for the benefits of Khmer people, where made by the white people whom you hate the most. Consider the huge amount of aid money contributed for 30 years to his government, the standard of living of khmer people should have been better by now but in reality it turned out to be worse.
