Cambodian National Assembly on Wednesday approved the law of non-proliferation of nuclear weapon, bio-chemical weapon, radioactive weapons and chemical weapon.

"This law bans on producing, recycling, transferring, transporting the kinds of these weapons in the country, and we will create authority for controlling and investigating the chemical substances as well as a laboratory for observing these substances in the country," said Tea Banh, deputy prime minister and minister of national defense. "We do not want to see these substances destroying our people's heath and lives," he added.

"We need peace and good environment in the country and we experienced the disaster of the weapons in the world," said Oeung Noeng, chairman of the committee of national defense, interior, investigation and clearance of the National Assembly.

"We have purpose to set up a region of ASEAN without the nuclear weapon," said Cheam Yeap, chairman of the audition, banking and finance. "When we have this kind of law, we will show other countries, United Nations, and IEAE (International Energy Agency) that we do not produce these weapons."

"We also show them that we are not the threat of regional security and the war monger," he said, adding that "our country is poor; we need the help from donor and other friend countries to develop the country and we do not have abilities to produce this kind of weapons."

He also expressed his concerns for some countries in the world that produced nuclear weapons because they could destroy the world and threaten security of the world.

He added this law follows to Cambodian constitution in 1993 and ASEAN charter, and International Conventions that Cambodia is signatory state.

The CPP ruling party survive by corruption. They say they would do for the past 14 years and still not done yet... How much more time will they need? Or having they had enough yet from corruption? Cambodia and Cambodians are suffering every day because of their inaction or inability to past it... We have been denied the opportunity to have a clean government where people are being treated fairly in every institution so that people can have hopes to do good for the nation. Right now good people are not being rewarded, only if you serve corruption to your bosses. Is how we want to see Cambodia? Have we see any country in the world do well when their government is corrupt?

Who cares about proliferation of Nuclear ? That's not important for Cambodia .. what's more important for Cambodia right now is anti-corruption law . The government don't to adopt the anti-corruption law because it will stop those government officials from being corrupted.

A nuclear proliferation law? Pass a law in which protection, security, freedom, and liberty can be safeguarded Khmer citizen. Don't spend your precious time passing this useless law at the moments. Cambodia is not a nuclear state at any time soon...!

hey, we all have to care about this because cambodia is reformed and moving on with life like the rest of the world, really. so, speak for yourself!

anyway, of course, we would like to see anti-corruption law implemented plus a whole slew of other badly needed laws as well like perhaps term limit like the USA has, traffic law, transportation standard law, etc, etc... of course, there are still a lot of work and more encourage to help cambodia grow and prosper. don't be so selfish or jealous or what have you. instead help to encourage growth, changes or reforms, etc. because cambodia needs it the most so bad or irresponsible history won't repeat itself in cambodia. may god bless cambodia and all our beautiful khmer people and citizens.

of course, this is part of the reform of the khmer armed forces, really; to be a responsible one at that as we work to build our armed forces for national defence, really. god bless cambodia.
