PHNOM PENH - A Cambodian father and his four sons died in a chain of electrocution on Friday when the front door to the family's corrugated-metal house cut into a power line, police said.

The deadly incident happened in Phnom Penh's Russey Keo commune when Mok En, 65, opened the door and it hit a power line connected to his home, triggering his electrocution, local police chief Sun Kanareth told AFP.

"When he opened up the door, it pinched the electric wire and he was immediately electrocuted and fell down with his left hand holding the door," he said.

"But the sons thought he had been hit by a fainting spell and they rushed to help him. So they were all electrocuted as soon as they touched the father," he added.

Four-fifths of Cambodians do not have proper access to electricity, and many use unsafe methods to tap into power grids.

Too busy for corruption and the CPP did not enforce the electrical codes. They let people build their own house without inspection.

If you don't know about electricity, don't put your life and play with it. Grounding is very importance.

To connect the live wires without turning off the breaker, you need to connect the ground wire first before the hot wires and to disconnect it, you need to disconnect the hot wires first before disconnecting the ground. To be safe, turn off the whole house and test with your electric meter to double check.

4 lives are lost and these people should know not to touch the first electrocute person without wearing the high voltage glove.

Rest In Peace.

What is high voltage glove?

Is it expensive?

High voltage glove is used for dealing with electricity; especially, electrical panelboard or switchboard. It's about $100 or more. Check the website; you can see how it looks and the cost. It consists of two layers: the outer glove is fabric and the inner glove is rubber. It is not easy to work with though.

For home you don't need it, just turn off the main circuit breaker or branch breaker in the electrical panel. Wear the rubber shoe and stand on non-conductive ladder.

i know, a lot of people in cambodia, and i'm sure all over as well, don't really understand the danger of electricution, really. people in cambodia need someone to educate them on the danger of electricity and so forth, i think. well, let this be a lesson for all. not everybody is an electrician, you know! education is the key to safety, really. in america, people get educated about everything all the time, you know; so, cambodia needs the same education, really!
