RFA Khmer Service’s employee firing saga continues

Friday, October 09, 2009
KI-Media

San Suwidh, another RFA employee, was fired from his job at 6PM on Thursday 08 October 2009, DAP-news reported on its website. San Suwidh was allegedly fired because he kept on criticizing the new policy adopted by RFA Khmer Service’s administration in the firing of other employees that led to protest and tire burning. Currently, the director of RFA Khmer Service is Kem Sos, and his deputy is Sam Poly who recently occupies this position.

Hun Sen is behind this story same thing he admitted he did to Funcinpec. Too sad for Cambodia, that this man will do any think he wanted to.

Idiot Kem Sos...let Hun Sen control his head.

Too sad... and too sad.

RFA director.
When will you fired lord Kem Sos? Please do more research and investigate on him then you will know that should we spend more tax payer money to support him or not? Please use our tax money wisely.

I hope Kem Sos think a care about khmer people, Lok San Savuth is the best broadcasting too.

All the best voice in RFA it have been shacking up khmer people a round the world, that is so sad when we lost them.

I hope Kem Sos will be kindly to think about that too.

One way to deal with job loss is to find another job. The ones that lost the job should just leave with gracious attitude. That way,the bridge was burned in case of future opportunity.

Keep in mind job is not yours forever.

Boss has a say in hiring or firing employee, regardless of reason. Sometimes, boss does not have to reason why/or what to fire an employee.

To get personal with Kem Sos or someone else with the hiring or firing authority at RFA will lead to nowhere but hatred and negative nature of individuality.

Sometimes the crook boss is corrupted and this boss, Kem Sos, will be fired next. This is American tax payer money, not Hun Sen tax. So we all should write to your senators to look into this matter or forward this article to your own respective senators. Don't let Hun Sen spin thing around like this.

Is American Government under Hun Sen control too?

FIRE KEM SOS NEXT AND REHIRE ALL OTHERS BACK.

DON'T LISTEN TO RFA ANYMORE.

Now, time when Hun Sen and his regime is starting to rock RFA' s employee out of work. This time it cannot be plamed the problem of freedom of speech anymore...but it is rely on the labor law...

Hun Sen may like to think he is the He-Man in the world. There are more Khmer and even better speakers in the world to take place of the unruly and disroderly employees.

No problem, sess dach yoak sess tarm...

RFA is the US entity and Hun Sen has nothing to say or do to it.Plus US can lease satellite from any country near Cambodia to broadcast its news to Cambodia.

LISTEN YOU GUYS,

KEM SOS IS NOT THE ISSUE HERE. YOU ARE BEATING UP ON THE WRONG GUY. MOST OF YOU ARE MISSING THE TRUTH OF THE STORY. I WOULD NOT SAY MUCH BUT KEEP FOLLOWING THE EVENT CLOSELY. I AM GETTING INTO A POINT OF WHICH I MIGHT HAVE TO LET THE DOG OUT. LET'S SEE WHERE THIS RFA MESS WILL BRING. IT'S BETTER BE GOOD FOR KHMER PEOPLE, OR ELSE THE STORY WILL NOT END HERE.

You don't fuck with my government you motherfucker.

Apparently, Kem Sos is not the issue here, the Vietnamese Khmer sometime known as Poly Sam sometime as Peou Ponlok hid behind the scene to create havoc in this poor Khmer Service to completely sabotage US-tax money. If all of you want to bring down Kem Sos, do not forget his deputy who is much more dangerous.

RFA Named Broadcaster of the Year
2009-07-07
Radio Free Asia was named Broadcaster of the Year by the 2009 New York Festivals for winning the largest number of awards among participating broadcasters. Four of Radio Free Asia’s nine language services won top honors for excellence in journalism in the international competition, which included three gold, one silver and three bronze medals.

WASHINGTON, DC – “While Radio Free Asia has consistently been honored at the New York Festivals over the years, it is deeply gratifying that the outstanding work by our staff won a record number of awards this year,” said Libby Liu, President of Radio Free Asia. “RFA reporters work tirelessly under the most difficult circumstances to bring uncensored news to our listeners. On a daily basis, they overcome seemingly insurmountable obstacles in environments that are hostile for journalists.

“We are inspired by this high recognition. We will continue our quest for journalistic excellence to make an even bigger impact on the lives of those we serve.”

Information about the winners and their submissions follows:

• Broadcaster Shohret Hoshur of the RFA’s Uyghur service won a gold medal in the Best Human Interest category for her exclusive story on an ethnic Uyghur woman in China facing a forced, third-term abortion. International pressure resulting from the story led to authorities releasing the woman, who was able to give birth to a son.

• RFA’s Burmese service won a gold medal in the category of Best Ongoing News Story for its excellent coverage of Cyclone Nargis, which both warned listeners of the approaching storm and, after it made landfall, helped survivors find desperately needed food, shelter, medical attention and other humanitarian aid.

• Reporter Ding Xiao of RFA’s Mandarin service won a gold medal in the category of Best Investigative Report for her story on a petitioner from China’s eastern Jiangsu province who was held by authorities without due process in a “law study group” detention center for disciplinary re-education.

• Reporter Peter Zhong of RFA’s Mandarin service took a silver medal in Best Investigative Report category for his four-episode story titled “Crime without Punishment” in which he exposed the extent of Guilin’s police-run underworld through his extensive coverage on female prisoner abuse.

• Reporter Jill Ku of RFA’s Mandarin service won a bronze medal in the category of Best Special Report for her exclusive story, which caught on audio and video Chinese police arresting a petitioner, who was being interviewed by RFA, during the Beijing 2008 Olympics.

• RFA Mandarin Service’s Asia Pacific Report was awarded a bronze medal in the Best Newscast category for its story on Chinese lawyers attempting to file a civil lawsuit on behalf of the families of victims of the tainted milk powder scandal that left at least six infants and children dead and 300,000 suffering from related ailments.

• Giao Pham of RFA’s Vietnamese service was awarded a bronze medal in the National/International Affairs category for his timely coverage on young Olympic protestors being arrested and beaten by police for demonstrating against China’s torch carrying in Hanoi – a story which was not covered by media inside Vietnam.

THE CULTURE AT RFA UNDER THE NEW MANAGEMENT IS ALMOST AS BAD AS THE ONE UNDER THE KHMER ROUGE REGIME. YOU ARE BEING WATCHED, TOTALLY INTIMIDIATED, SCARED FOR LOOSING YOUR JOB, EVIDENTLY AS WE HAVE SEEN 8 PEOPLE WERE LET GO, SO FAR. OPEN YOUR MOUTH, YOU ARE GONE. REASONS OF FIRING WERE REALLY PATHETIC, WITH LITTLE MERIT, IF ANY, BUT MOSTLY ON PERSONAL REVENGE AND ABUSE OF POWER, SUPPORTED STRONGLY BY SUZANNE AND LIBBY LOU WHO LACKS A CLEAR UNDERSTANDING OF THE CULTURE AND THE PEOPLE WHO WORKS TIREDLESSLY FOR RFA. THEY MIGHT HAVE TO LIVE TO REGRET THEIR DECISION TODAY, FOR LETTING CAPABLE AND DECEBT PEOPLE GO. SADLY, TO BRING BACK MR. HOUTH VUTHY WHO IS CAPABLE OF COOKING UP PERSONAL CLAIMS ON BUSINESS EXPENSES, CHARMING, BUT NOT TRUSTWORTHY. THERE IS SOMETHING REALLY WRONG WITH THAT MANAGEMENT PEOPLE AT RFA. ANY REASONABLE MANAGER WOULD BE TOTALLY NUT TO GET RID OF MASS PEOPLE THE WAY THEY DID IT AT RFA WITHOUT MUCH REGARDS FOR THOSE EMPLOYEE'S CONTRIBUTIONS FOR THE LAST DECADE OR SO. ON TOP OF THAT, THESE MANAGEMENT HAS NO MORAL OR PROFESSIONAL OBLIGATIONS IN SEEING THAT THOSE STAFF DESERVE THEIR CHANCES, SINCE THEIR LIVES, THEIR CHILDREN, WILL BE MUCH AFFECTED BY THIS SUDDEN DISRUPTION OF JOB LOSS. I AM NOT PROUD OF ANY CAMBODIAN WHO ACTED IN SUCH A MALICE FASHION. A GOOD MANAGER KNOWS HOW TO BRING PEOPLE AROUND TO BE PRODUCTIVE AND WHAT EXPECTED FROM THEM, YOU DON'T NEED TO BE SO HEARTLESS LIKE THIS. KEM SOS AND POLY SAM MUST GO. MR. HOUTH VUTHY SHOULD NOT BE REFIRED IMMEDIATELY. WHY? BECAUSE HE WAS A GOOD FRIEND OF MR. POLY AND A FORMER FAVORITE OF MS. SUZANNE WHO CONTINUES TIL THIS DAY REFUSING TO ACCEPT THAT THE MAN IS A CROOKE. HE HAD BEEN CAUGHT OVER BILLING RFA WITH HOTEL BILLS. YOU NEED A NEW MANAGEMENT TEAM THERE WHO WILL BRING IN QUALITY MANAGEMENT,WITH FRESH AND BALANCED APPROACH TO THE OVERALL ISSUES CONCERNED. MR. SAM POLY IS TOO ABUSIVE, AMBITIOUS AND YET SOMEWHAT CAMBODIAN ILLITERATE. HIS MANAGEMENT STYLE UP UNTIL NOW REFLECT MUCH OF WHAT I HAVE JUST STATED ABOVE. WHO ELSE IS ON MR. POLY'S FIRING SQUADS? IT REMAINS TO BE SEEN.....

Anonymous said...

MR. HOUTH VUTHY HAS REJOINED RFA, THE SAME WAY CAN BE SAID, THE CROOK IS BACK AND THE DECENT ONES GOT BOOTED OUT. COMMON, YOU CAN'T FIND ANYONE TO DO THE JOB THAN A GUY WHO GOT FIRED IN THE FIRST PLACE? WAKE UP THE GOVERNORS BOARD! DON'T YOU SEE WHAT GOING ON HERE?

Dear May-Kha readers,

There have emerged unjust and inappropriate things and personalities such the
case of FTUB.
Some students have been trying to rectify this.

So what about the RFA (Burmese Section).
Please read the following message posted by a Laotian/Cambodian activist.
The message is exactly accurate.

Pro-Hun Sen faction consolidates its control of Radio Free Asia Cambodian
section

Just as Hun Sen has been consolidating his political control of Cambodia, so
to has he been consolidating his control of the Cambodian section of Radio
Free Asia.

In December 1997 Mr Vuthy Khin Huot was offered a position as Director of the
Cambodian section of RFA. RFA did not dare make an outright appointment
however, fearing public protest. Therefore officially he was originally
appointed simply as a member of the broadcasting team. When rumours first
started surfacing on SCC of his appointment and people started lobbying RFA to
protest, RFA postponed the official appointment of Mr Huot as Director of the
section. A month later on 26th February 1998 RFA quietly announced through an
internal memo to members of the Cambodian section the appointment of Mr Huot
as Acting Director of the Cambodian section. Mr Huot soon appointed his
relatives to positions in the section to strengthen his faction, and started
harassing and intimidating other members of the team who did not support him.
Two new members have now joined the Cambodian section, in moves designed to
further consolidate Hun Sen's control of RFA broadcasts in the run-up to the
Cambodian elections.

Vuthy Khin Huot was raised from an early age by Vietnamese soldiers and has
had a strong life long affiliation to the Vietnamese/Hun Sen communists. He
was previously sent by Hun Sen to Moscow as Hun Sen's representative to
UNESCO.

In April 1997 following the March 31st grenade attack on a peaceful public
emonstration organised by Sam Rainsy in which many civilians were killed and
injured, Vuthy Khin Huot caused outrage on SCC when he stated that he wished
Sam Rainsy had been killed in the attack.

It is an incomprehensible abuse of the authority bestowed upon RFA by the US
Congress that Radio Free Asia should appoint such a person as Director of the
Cambodian section, and such corruption must be viewed in the context of
similar serious problems in other sections of RFA such as the Lao section, the
Burmese section, the Vietnamese section, the Korean section, and the Chinese
sections.

I have had various requests for information about contacting Radio Free Asia in connection with
abuses by RFA of its Congressional mandate. I am therefore giving contact details here, and also the
law under which RFA was created in a separate posting. The law under which RFA is operating is
clear, and it is equally clear that they are wholly in violation of that law.
Copies of all correspondence should preferably be sent to the Broadcasting Board of
Governors (addressed to the Chairman and Members of the Board), which
has responsibility for overseeing RFA. The BBG is a part of the US
Information Agency. The address is:

There is a Sub-Committee of the Senate Committee of Foreign Relations
called the Sub-Committee on International Operations, of which the Chairman is Senator Barbara Boxer, who has responsibility for the US Information Agency (and therefore RFA). It would be very worthwhile to contact Senator Barbara Boxer, including relevant information.

Subject: The statement Vuthy Khin made at a seminar class at NIU in Fall 1997....

Dear Lao Hou Mai,

Please post this message on SCC and SCL.
This is not a allegation. It is a fact which can be attested by at least
15 graduate students of Plitical Science at NIU who took Dr. Clark
Neher's POLS-570 in Fall 1997....
Lou Moe
---------------------------------------------
Vuthy Khin (Now Director of RFA Cambodia) section made a statement at
one of the seminar classes at NIU that journalists, foreign or
Cambodian, should be killed because they are trouble-makers.
This information was provided by a Cambodian student currently at NIU to
me.
According to him, Vuthy Khin was taking Dr. Clark Nehers' POLS-570
(Reading seminar of Southeast Asian Politics) in Fall 1997 which was his
first semester at NIU and the class was discussing on the current
situation in Cambodia at the time. One student mentioned about the
bombing in Phnom Penh at the time at political rally and killing of
jounalists. He said it was international journalists.
To everbody's surprise, Vuthy Khin made a loud and clear statement that
jounalists are trouble-makers and they pose threats to stability and
they deserved to be killed or kidnapped or whatever. He said press
freedom is not desirable in Cambodia because stability is more
important, apparently reflecting the Cambodian authorities' line.
His statement left ever graduate in the class agahst - the Cambodian
friend told me.
Most American students were appalled to hear these words from a
Cambodian student, Vuthy Khin, who said his parents and other family
members were descimated by Pol Pot's authoritarian policies.
These students are now so surpried to learn that this person, who does
not believe in freedom of press and jounalist intergrity, is appointed
as the director of the Cambodian Section at RFA.

Your Honorable,

It is with the utmost urgency that we plead with you to immediately attend to the deteriorating Radio free Asia Khmer Service and to directly intervene to ease humanitarian suffering and human rights violations.

Radio Free Asia Vice President and Executive Editor Dan Sutherland and Deputy Director Poly Sam’s appointment of Vuthy Khin Houth for Khmer Service is rock solid proof RFA has no concern for the health basic human right. In fact, in April 1997 following the March 31st grenade attack on a peaceful public demonstration organized by Sam Rainsy in which many civilians were killed and injured, Vuthy Khin Huot caused outrage on SCC when he stated that he wished Sam Rainsy had been killed in the attack. Rather, RFA Khmer Service’s modus operandi has and will continue to be full-scale attack on the rights of the talented, professional, and qualified Khmer journalists/ broadcasters who are active in fighting human right abuse in Cambodia.

As you are well aware, the human right situation in Cambodia is disastrous, and several poor Cambodians are suffering untold horrors. Those who have been evicted from land grab have not had access to basic food, fuel, medicines and other essential commodities. Since August 2008, 4,000 families have been evicted from Boeung Kak lake and 900 families are on the verge of becoming homeless. The Cambodian broadcasters who were actively involved in investigating the land grab case against the powerful Cambodian government officials have been unjustly fired by Deputy Director Poly Sam.

There is an urgent need for your oversight committee to help deter abuses, investigate rights violations that do occur, and create an environment at the headquarters and local level that would allow for broadcaster protection in the Radio Free Asia Khmer Service.

Please do not delay in fulfilling your obligations.

I think that all these negatives statement about RFA firing need to stop. We are in recession time. Companies will restructure within their policy, laying off people, etc.. You ALL need to use your brain to think around. STOP the biggering and fine a new job or just get a life. LIFE is too SHORT to Talk about others when you don't know the truth.
