Thaksin is Cambodia-bound

Demonstrators, led by People’s Alliance for Democracy core member Chaiwat Sinsuwong, gather yesterday in front of the Cambodian embassy in Bangkok to protest against comments made by Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen at last weekend’s Asean summit in support of ousted prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra. Ex-PM wants to thank Hun Sen for job offer

Former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra insists he will go to Cambodia to thank Prime Minister Hun Sen for laying out the welcome mat for him.

Thaksin confirmed his plan yesterday via a video link to a meeting of the Puea Thai Party amid a simmering conflict that has arisen between Thailand and Cambodia over his status.

Thaksin said he would fly to Cambodia soon to thank Hun Sen, a party source said.

Thaksin said he and Hun Sen had been friends for a long time.

Thaksin also thanked Puea Thai's new chairman, Gen Chavalit Yongchaiyudh, for "doing the right thing".

He denied having any businesses in Cambodia, saying he had sold them all before entering politics, the source said.

Deputy Prime Minister Suthep Thaugsuban yesterday claimed he had cleared up Hun Sen's misunderstanding of Thaksin's situation.

Mr Suthep, who is in charge of national security, said he told Hun Sen Thaksin had not been bullied. He had broken the law and the Supreme Court's Criminal Division for Holders of Political Positions had jailed him for two years after a proper judicial hearing.

He explained Thaksin was not living in exile because of the 2006 coup.

Mr Suthep said Thaksin was fielding members of the political party he controls in elections and they had won. But two party prime ministers had to step down because they had violated the law.

"It's too late to say he has been unfairly treated. If he accepted the constitution and had not fielded candidates in the general election, it would be another story," Mr Suthep said.

"Prime Minister Hun Sen understands this point well."

The Cambodian prime minister was told that if he allowed Thaksin to live in exile in Cambodia, Thailand would use international law to seek his extradition.

"I said it was fine because the law will not be interpreted by me and Mr Hun Sen alone. There is an extradition process, and the court might be the one ruling on the extradition," he said.

The Cambodian premier said on his arrival at the Asean summit in Thailand last weekend that his government would allow Thaksin to take refuge in Cambodia and work as his economic adviser. Cambodia would not extradite him if asked by Thailand as Thaksin had been unfairly treated, he said.

The Foreign Ministry is preparing to issue a statement explaining the facts relating to Thaksin's status in response to the remarks by Hun Sen. The statement will be sent to the Cambodian government as the ministry believed the remark was a result of misinformation, said Chavanond Intarakomalyasut, secretary to Foreign Minister Kasit Piromya.

Army chief Anupong Paojinda yesterday insisted Hun Sen's stance on Thaksin had no effect on the situation along the Thai-Cambodian border.

The pads, the the whole group of abhishit will have a nervous wreck
soon. The more Thaksin move closer to home the more choas will happen to Thailand. If you want Hun Xen to stop playing politic games, You would better withdraw the troops from Preah Vihear. Once the temple issue is done. Then you can focus on the problem in your country. That is the real problem.

If Thai Abhishit gov’t has not done any wrong to ex-pm, Thaksin, why are they so nervous of Thaksin coming to Cambodia to see his old friend, Hun Sen? If they know that extradition is going to work, just wait for the man to step into the trap. Then extradite him. Who knows all politicians are good liar.

This may be the beginning of the END for present-day Thailand. The ethnics Khmers (red-shirts) are ripe to take up arms along with the Malays in the South.

I bet while Mr. Suthep explained to Mr. Hun Sen about the court proceedings that convicted Taksin, Hun Sen would think to himeself: "Yeah, Yeah.., I know all about court proceedings.. you're fool to lecture me about this subject. Look what I've done to the Cambodian judiciary system..."

The Cambodian prime minister was told that if he allowed Thaksin to live in exile in Cambodia, Thailand would use international law to seek his extradition.

I think Thailand try to bully Cambodia again. They said that if Thaksin comes to live in Cambodia they would use international law to seek his extradition. If that is the case, why do they have to wait until Thaksin comes to live in Cambodia, why don't they do it now because Thailand know where Thaksin live in Dubai. And Thaksin made no secret where he is living and his movement in the world.

I believe that Thailand never made any complain to any other country that allowed Thaksin to stay in their country, and why only Cambodia???? or maybe they think Cambodia is easy target to BULLY because, it is a small country and poor.

Please SamDack Hun Sen don't be convinced by the current Thai government becuase, your tactic to endore Thaksin is very good in putting more pressure on the Thai government.

We have to have conditions with them,if Thailand want to end the THAKSIN matter it has to withdraw all Thai soldiers from the Cambodian land and the 4.6 sq.km belongs to Cambodia.

New Phally and Samdech Hun Sen are right about Thaksin. He was illegally removed from office by a 2006 coup. The ones who should serve two-year term in prison are the people who were behind the coup! They include King Phimiphon, Prem Tinsulanond, Gen. Boonyaratglin, etc. And of course, Abhisit Vejjajiva is not a legitimate Prime Minister elected by the Thai people. Samdech Hun Sen is correct about helping a friend who is a victim of the Thai Royalist. The PAD tries to use Cambodia's Preah Vihear as a scapegoat for their internal conflicts. Preah Vihear's case was long over nearly five decades ago...The verdict of ICJ June 15 1962 was clear black and white...there is no overlapping areas between Cambodia and Thailand. Sarit Thanarat's unilateral map is baseless and unlawful. It contradicts the 1904-07 Franco-Siamese treaty which was acknowledged signed by France and King Chulalongkorn. Offering Thaksin a job as an economic advisor to Samdech Hun Sen is to the interest of Cambodia. If Thaksin accept the post...He will surely be a great advisor and a major achiever. It is sad to see Thaksin, who has done so much for his coutry and still has no country to live as quoted by Samdech Hun Sen. Thaksin should be granted Cambodian citizen immediately and bestow a decoration of honor by His Majesty King Sihamoni. There are many foreign statesmen who had already received royal order of Cambodia.
They include the following people:

Josip Broz Tito
Jean de Lattre de Tassigny
Sultan Ibrahim of Johor
Hor Namhong
Bao Long
Jagatjit Singh of Kapurthala
Tengku Fauziah binti Almarhum Tengku Abdul Rashid
Jean-Baptiste Billot

It's time to recall the Cambodian Ambassador; kick this fucker out of Thailand. Cambodia should not be allowed to have the embassy in Thailand; it should be relocated in the jungle.

To 1:55pm

Did you know that all of Thailand in ancient time used to be Khmer land???

Did you know that King Bhoomiball is of Khmer ancestry??

Did you know that the Siamese were ingrateful bandits from Nan Chao (present-day Yunnan province, China)???

Did you know that 40% of Thai language are of Khmer words??? ...including these 10 numbers (๐๑๒๓๔๕๖๗๘๙)???

Did you know that Bangkok used to be a small Khmer fishing village??? Bang or Boeng meaning lake, kok meaning deposit???

Did you know that Thai custumes are copied from Khmer???

Did you know that Thais love Thale Saab (Khmer Tonle Sap) fish???

Before sending us to the Jungle...think again...maybe the Thais ought to pack up and migrate back to Nan Chao!!!

Yes, if Thai think they can use international laws why don't use it before Thaksin set foot in Cambodia?

The rifts between Cambodia and Thailand could be just Viets' trick to divert attention. Don't forget that we can contain the Thai at the border while it is hard to contain the Viets numbered 3.5M to 5M, who are deep inside Cambodia now. How many times in the past the Viets tricked us just for their own benefits.
