Abhisit disappointed in Chavalit

11/11/2009
Bangkok Post

Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva said on Wednesday he was disappointed in opposition Puea Thai Party chairman Chavalit Yongchaiyudh's activities against the government.

Former prime minister Chavalit's proposal for the government to dissolve the House of Representatives as quickly as possible was one-sided, Mr Abhisit said.

"I'm disappointed in Gen Chavalit because I thought he re-entered politics to bring about reconciliation, but so far his activities have created problems between Thailand and Cambodia," he said.

On ousted prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra's interview with The Times, in which he commented on the monarchy, Mr Abhisit said the tape of Thaksin's interview should be examined and then officials could decide whether to take legal action against him.

there is nothing that Abhisit can do in this political showdown except to throw jabs at Chavalit and Thaksin. Abhisit is said to be less experienced and educated in politics than Thaksin. Majority of Abhisit's supporters are the Thai elites, but thai farmers have demonstrated that they would prefer Thaksin as their pm.

8:25 AM, 8:44 AM,
You know that Thai are crual. Why you run into Thailand in the first place? You have lots of choices. You can choose to stay with Pol Pot, you can run to Vietnam or Lao if you think they can take care of you better than the Thai. Assuming that Thai had trouble in their own country they have to run into your country, Cambodia. Would you, Khmers, welcome them as guests and put them in five star hotels? Small number of bad people don't represent the whole population. The same hold true for Khmers, there are bad people and good people. The fact that Pol Pot killed almost 2Millions Khmers, no one in world would accuse all Khmers of being murderers. To me, Khmers are the most vicious in the world.
