Cambodia Names Thailand’s Thaksin Economic Adviser, Xinhua Says

By Mark Tannenbaum

Nov. 4 (Bloomberg) -- Cambodia’s government has named Thaksin Shinawatra, the exiled former prime minister of Thailand, as an economic adviser, Xinhua News Agency reported, citing a statement today from the Cambodian government.

Thaksin was also appointed to serve as a private adviser to Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen, the report said. The appointment was made on Oct. 27, Xinhua said.

Thaksin, ousted in a 2006 coup, is wanted in Thailand after being sentenced to a two-year prison term last year for abuse of power. Thailand and Cambodia are neighbors that have clashed in the past year over border disputes.

Of all economic advisers in the world why do you chose THAKSIN?.Are you looking for trouble with your neighbor just to show that you are tough?.

Cambodian leaders want a pro-Cambodia leader and not Abhisit. Hun Sen knows that Abhisit is about to lose his seat as prime minister so Cambodia wants to side with the current thai opposition party, namely the puea party, because not only does cambodia has good relation with the party but the majority of the thai people also support it. win-win for cambodia

Are you sure? Majority of Thai people support Taksin or
"Pue Khai" party. This a best condition for Khmer and Siem to look co-political evolution between both side.

Are you like "Yae Kae"?

good for cambodia, really! we need capable people like mr. thaksin, etc, you know! just because thailand use politics to victimize mr. thaksin, don't expect cambodia to cater to thailand, really! even when cambodia and siem have extradition treaty, thaksin and hun sen were friends long before any new law take effect, thus, it doesn't apply to thaksin and cambodia's choosing him as economic adviser, etc... stop your siem jealousy once and for all, really! cambodia is not thailand's vassal, you know! go back to nanchoa province of china already. china is waiting for siem there, ok!
