Cambodia's arrest of Thai is intimidation : Thai FM

The Nation

Foreign Minister Kasit Piromya said on Friday that Cambodia's arrest of a Thai engineer on spying charges is nothing more than intimidation with the intention to defame Thailand.

Cambodia has charged Siwarak Chothipong, an engineer of Cambodia Air Traffic Services, for "stealing" the flight information of ex-Thai PM Thaksin Shinawatra and Cambodia's PM Hun Sen.

Cambodian prosecutors alleged that Siwarak stole the information and sent it to Thai embassy's first secretary Kamrob Palawatwichai.

Cambodia on Thursday expelled Kamrob following the accusation that he had executed work in contradiction to his position. He was ordered to leave the country within 48 hours.

"It is clearly intimidation with intent to defame Thailand by Cambodia," said Kasit, who cut short his participation in ministerial preparatory meetings for the Apec Summit in Singapore.

He accused Thaksin of being the major cause of all the problems Thailand having with Cambodia.

He said he had assigned officials of Thai embassy in Phnom Penh to assist and provide legal advice to Siwarak.

Cambodia's appointment of Thaksin as the adviser to Hun Sen and his government has seen the start of the current diplomatic rows between the neighbouring countries. Both have recalled their ambassadors and the first secretaries. Thailand has downgraded relations and reviewed cooperation with and loans given to Cambodia.

Invistigation is on the way, how can you be so sure that he's not the spy? It could be intentionally or unintentionally.

You should "urge the RGC to investigate into this in a fair and transperant manner". You just make another mistake Mr. Kasit. Your prejudgement toward RGC make you clearly not suitable to be in this position if your government want a better relationship with RGC.

To say that Cambodia intimidates Thailand is laugable!

Ahishit government has no shame ...it is illegitimate and not credible. No need for Cambodia to defame... always cheating such as drawing your own maps,etc... shame!

The time has come--finally.

Hun Sen and his people will be farmers and live in a low-life; those farmers will live in rich-life style. In other words, Hun Sen and his supporters will be famined, and those famined farmers will be feasted.

The time has come!

EVEN A KID CAN MAKE KIND OF THIS STATEMENT, BUT THE FACT IS THE FACT. KASIT SHOULD HAVE SPOKEN IN A MORE BETTER AND REASONABLE LANGUAGE. KASIT HIMSELF IS THE PROBLEM AND HAS NO LEADERSHIP SKILL.

After Assy strip Sam Rainsy's parliamentary immunity, I bet Thai will buy Sam Rainsy to be Economic advisor as well as Thaksin has been bough and well protected by Hun Sen.
The New Political War game between Hun Sen and Sam Rainsy just began!
[not long...you will see some of SRP will defect and run to 3rd country or die in blood-bath].

I don't think Hun Sen needs anymore advisors (or Mr. Thaksin). This is nothing but a political stun. Soon Khmer soldiers will spill their blood, while the Vietnamese and Hun's friends and family are taking advantage of the situation.

Hun is fooling his people and have his people killed for his personal interests and benefit. Very sad, indeed.

Sometime I wonder, a country with second economic power in Southeast Asia can't have more of a competent leaders. Because the government is not elected by the people. The current Thais government is fucking it all up.

Some of the shits the Thais side said or done don't make any fucking sense-- always flip-flopping.

Thank's!.You still remembered March 18 1970. Most of kids this and future generation, will not able to see or hear this part of history anymore because this current government does't want kids understand what was going on before 1970 and during 1970-1975.

2 selfish people, Hun Sen - Thaksin are doing everything now for their own sake (just for 2 families)

Their own benefits come first.

This is a foolish game of a temple boy highly educationally loving to play. While he publicly arrested one simple Siam and in the end, will cowardly send him back home safe and sound, but the Siams will be unhumanly and violently punished and killed the innocent Khmers near the border and inside their country!
