JAKARTA, Nov. 9 (Xinhua) - The Association of the Southeast Asia Nations (ASEAN) said on Monday that conflict between two of its members, Thailand and Cambodia, has triggered anxiety in the organization.
"This is not just a border dispute anymore because it has caused anxiety in ASEAN and could affect the image and profile of the body," the Secretary-General of ASEAN Surin Pitsuwan told ambassadors for the organization in a briefing here.
He also has appealed to the two countries to take a maximum restraint and asked ASEAN foreign ministers to assist the two countries in ending the dispute.
Surin told the press that currently, the organization has just to wait for the development there.
"Right now, what we can do is just waiting," said Surin.
Surin said that he was hoping that the two countries could settle their problem amicably.
"Please take all instrument we have here, discussion and other possible assistances," he said.
According to Surin, all instruments should be used to maintain and perfect the organization's integrity.

The general secretary of ASEAN Mr. Surin Pitsuwan is a Thai. What can we expected from this person ?
That man is the ASEAN secretary? No doubt, that's why there's so much problem at ASEAN now!
This clown is very BIAS and double standard!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Cause this guy "Thai" in charge!!!
ASEAN is useless.
How can Asean lost face because they have NO FACE in the first place. That is right, it is piece of crap!
This Thai secretary general will do nothing to maintain the creditability and integrity of ASEAN. This guy and Abhisit will destroy ASEAN as a regional block. The worse thing he can do is doing nothing and that is exactly what he is doing - nothing. ASEAN must change its way of doing business. Because the current system is not working and it is the old culture. WE need to keep up with time.
ASEAN must demand Surin Pitsuwan step down for biased conduct unbecoming of civilized forum such as ASEAN. Failure to do so would undermine the credibility of ASEAN in the upcoming meeting with US President Barack Hussein Obama.
To Hun Sen (Leader of the Cambodian People's Party Hun Sen Khmer Rouge Regime)
Since you and the CPP assassinated, executed, killed and murdered jurnalists, political opponents, leaders of the free trade union, innocent men, innocent women and innocent children;
Do you have any plan to assassinate the Thai prime minister (Abhisit Vejjajiva)?
Are you going to send Brigade 70 (Hun Sen's Death Squad Unit) to assassinate the Thai prime minister (Abhisit Vejjajiva)?
Is it true, you only kill your own peoples, you will not kill Thai and Veitnamese peoples that cannot get enough of our land?
Is it true, you only kill innocent Khmer peoples with no weapon in their hands?
