Danish man charged with child sex abuse in Cambodia

PHNOM PENH, Nov 2, 2009 (AFP) - A Cambodian court has charged a Danish man with sexually abusing three underage girls in a northwestern border town, officials said Monday.

Banteay Meanchey provincial court on Sunday charged Kenneth Hansen-Jorgen, 61, with sexual abuse of children and he faces at least 10 years in jail if convicted, prosecutor So Vath told AFP.

The mother of one of the children was also charged with prostituting her daughter to the suspect, the prosecutor said.

Hansen-Jorgen allegedly crossed from Thailand into Cambodia and took the girls, all aged under 15, to a guesthouse in the border town of Poipet, said provincial police chief Hun Hean.

"He has confessed to us through translation that he has had sex with the girls, and the victims have also told us about him," the police chief added.

Dozens of foreigners have been jailed for child sex crimes or deported to face trial in their home countries since Cambodia launched an anti-paedophilia push in 2003 to try to shake off its reputation as a haven for sex predators.

I would like all khmer people to watch out on all foreigners who enter the country. Unless they are human service workers who are qualified to do the job or otherwise watchout on them in every move they make. If khmer people don't love khmer, no one in the world will. gov't must create a community for women and children to watch for each other. If anything unusual occurs they can easily report it to the police or media as soon as possible so that the perpetrator don't get away for their criminal acts. Aust

Hmm, so all white male tourists are sex tourists and should have their penis cut off? This sounds like the Khmer problem, always to resort to violence without thinking. Indeed, the innocent Khmer "children" were the ones who MURDERED one quarter of Cambodians during Khmer Rouge era. I see these stories here all the time about kiddy brothels, etc. but they are always located in a place where no white men would ever venture, only Khmer and NGOs go there. Maybe you need to cut your own penis off!

I am glad to hear the mother is being prosecuted. More parents should get convicted for selling their children. Sometimes these kids are sold off to be used as slaves or prostitutes. More convictions will make parents think twice about selling off their kids.

Who are the REAL Trouble Maker in Cambodia?

There is a Guesthouse in Phnom Penh, they name themself Hotel. Cheap rooms, drinks, food, however the Australien Men who own this place make big money out of it.

The place is crowded with HIV infected prostitutes, a big guy from the US, his name is John is openly dealing with drugs at this place. Have a look at a big guy, tattoos everywhere and he is telling the people that he is a former Marines. Now he work as a techer in Ney York Englisch School Street 51.

This Guesthouse on Street 51 in Phnom Penh, the name is the WALKABOUT HOTEL.

They soon will open a new modern Hotel beside their Guesthouse.
Guess how they could make so much money to buy a Hotel and refurbish it?

All Cambodian People in Phnom Penh know, this is the worst place in Cambodia but the Police have a blind eye on it.

So do not complain about a few old horny guys. See where is the root of this problems!

I personally heard when one of the Owners a fat guy is laughing about the Government which is corrupt and which they OWN.

Guys like this are the real problem!
In every other country the Minister of Health would shut down a place like this just of Health Security Risk!

Hopefully one day the Cambodian Government will do something against it.

Nothing happen except some visits from the police. The Owners are proud to say WE OWN THE POLICE!
