PHNOM PENH, Nov. 10 (Xinhua) -- Ousted former Thai Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra arrived in Phnom Penh Tuesday morning to take up his new job as the adviser of Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen and the Royal Government.
Thaksin will give a lecture on economic issues to about 300 Cambodian business leaders at the Ministry of Economy and Finance at the invitation of Prime Minister Hun Sen.
"Cambodia welcome the arrival of Thaksin Shinawatra," said Phay Siphan, spokesman of Council of Ministers at a press conference held at the Council of Ministers on Tuesday morning, adding that "Cambodian leaders will have a banquet to welcome Thaksin."
Thaksin arrived at Cambodia's military airport about 9:00 a.m. local time by a private plane. There was tight security for Thaksin's arrival and the reporters were banned to come near or close to the spot.
Hun Sen told reporters on Sunday that Thaksin will arrive in Cambodia to give a economic lecture on Thursday. He said that "Thaksin will make a lecture on economic topics in Phnom Penh on Nov. 12 in the morning to 300 people. I cannot tell you when and from where he will come through, but he will make a lecture here."
Relations between Thailand and Cambodia were strained in the past week when Cambodia named Thaksin as its economic adviser. Thailand recalled its ambassador Thursday, and Cambodia followed suit.
Thaksin was ousted in a 2006 military coup for alleged massive corruption and other charges. His supporters say he should be pardoned and returned to power. Since the coup, Thaksin has lived abroad to escape a corruption conviction and two-year prison sentence.
Thaksin, born in Thailand's northern province Chiang Mai in 1949, became one of the richest people in Thailand by setting up telecommunications companies like Shin Corporation and Advanced Info Service before entering politics.
Thaksin entered politics by joining the Phalang Dharma Party (Power of Justice Party) in 1994, and once served as deputy prime minister and foreign minister in two administrations.
"Thaksin can stay in Cambodia as a guest of Cambodia. He can also be my adviser on the economy," Hun Sen said as he arrived in the beach resort of Hua Hin for the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) summit last month. The Cambodian leader repeated an earlier invitation to Thaksin to stay in Cambodia and rejected Thai claims that Phnom Penh would have to extradite the tycoon.
"Our concern is for humanitarian reasons, it is friends helping friends. The internal affairs of Thailand would be left for Thai people to resolve, I am not interfering," Hun Sen said earlier.

Sam Rainsy should organize all his supporters in Cambodia to strike against Thaksin's present in Cambodia. Thai PM Abhisit used to help Sam Rainsy to insult Cambodian Government from Thailand. Now, it's time for Sam Rainsy to attack Thai PM's enemy and SRP can use Thaksin as an excuse to block Phnom Penh airport and bring down the government likes PAD did in Thailand. Please raise up mates, SRP's chance is coming now.
Longlive the alliance PAD and SRP!!
PAD supporter
Hun Xen now official both eye blind! This man is an idiot. Appoint Thai fugitive as Cambodian economic advisor.
Hun Xen is intentionally wants to raise tension with Thailand. This is unethical to Khmer people. Especially economic wise.
Dear PAD,
Thanks for your advice. SRP wants to do like PAD did in Bangkok, but we have no support from Army. So, any strike against Thaksin or block the airport, Hun Sen's police and soldiers will come to kick our ass...

It is about leading system and not a daily business. We can't say, I don't like to work at the same place with the person, because he is not sympathy.
Agree or not, we have to accept this circumstances. Better try to give our the best.
Dear PAD Supporter or Dog of Crazy King!!
Well Samraingsy is not a pupet of any country!!!
Bear in mind !
Go to the hell PAD!!
Sam Rainsy is not a puppet of any country but he is a dog for PM Abhisit and PAD. Thailand uses him to insult Hun Sen and Sam Rainsy uses Thailand as shelter for his supporters when they have trouble with Cambodian government.
The CPP supports Thaksin and Peur Thai Party while SRP supports Thai's PM and PAD.

Hi guys,
If you support SRP, please don't insult Thailand's government and PAD. You guys should aware that SRP has signed alliance agreement with Democrat party of current Thai's PM. So, we should support each other and attack to Hun Sen and Thaksin.

I am the supporter of SRP but I don't support PAD. The PAD is full of people who don't know history of Thailand.
Me too! PAD are looking down on Cambodians and create more tension on Preah Vihear Temple and Cambodian Maritime Boundary. Sam Rainsy is a Cambodian scholar. Sam Rainsy is well aware of the tricks of PAD. Sam Rainsy will get more respects and more supporters if he choose not to organize any demonstration against Thaksin Shinawatra. Bravo Sam Rainsy! Bravo Thaksin Shinawatra!
Thaksin is playing a role for thai interests as Hochiminh did for Yuon nearly 40 ys ago. Hun Sen has to take full responsibility in history for the lose of 4.6 Km2, for the failure in exploring oil in gulf of Thailand (he's buying time for Yuon and Thai to continue drilling oil while Cambodia gains nothings) and Hun Sun has to take full responsibility for the suffering of Cambodian poeple, the lose of revenue from tourism and trade, etc. The Yellow shirts are day dreaming like a former Thai PM Sirit Thanarath who said more than 50 ys ago that 'some day in the future, we will take Preah Vihea Temple back to Thailand'. However, the Yellow Shirt (=the queen, Prem and Prince Sirinthan)are trying to protect their monarchy while Thaksin wants to get rid of the King to set up a republic but pretend that he is supporting the Crown Prince Vajiralongkorn.
As a PM of a sovereign country, Hun Sen should outvertly support neither Thaksin (red shirts) nor the yellow shirts. He should keep Cambodian interests above all thing else including his friends'.
