Prime Minister Hun Sen (pictured) has praised Vietnam for helping to liberate Cambodia from the yoke of the Khmer Rouge regime, reports Radio Free Asia.
Speaking on the 30th anniversary of a Government and NGO Partnerships on 25th November, Mr. Hun Sen said Cambodia owed a big gratitude to Vietnam. "The one who came to help Cambodia in the 1980s and the one who came to help Cambodia during a time that Cambodia was faced with political and economic sanctions was the one whom we owed the biggest gratitude to", he said.
He added that the Cambodian people had suffered more in the 1980s, after the liberation, due to international sanctions and international supports for the Khmer Rouge. "And the people who supported Pol Pot, after the liberation, after we have toppled Pol Pot, have imposed sanctions on us as the victims of Pol Pot. How do they face up to the moral responsibility?", he added.
The appeal by Mr. Hun Sen for all Khmers to acknowledge Vietnam's gratitude has come under criticism from the opposition parties and critics who said that Vietnam invaded Cambodia and planned to stay permanently, only to withdraw its troops after strong pressures from the international community.
Mr. Son Chhay, MP from the opposition Sam Rainsy Party, said the Khmer Rouge movement was originally created with the supports of Vietnam. Vietnam only turned against the Khmer Rouge after it stood up to Vietnam's violations of Cambodian territorial integrity. "We must separate clearly the reasons and basis of the invasion and what were the evidences that happened coincidentally was the fact that our people had escaped from the genocide which was helped by the same army (Vietnamese army who supported Pol Pot). In the future, for our neighbours, we cannot always be reminded about the gratitude of these countries all the time, he said.
At the same time, Mr. Hun Sen takes an indirect swipe at Thailand for threatening to close the borders with Cambodia after diplomatic row between the two countries recently. He insinuated that international sanctions in the 1980s did not succeed in bringing Cambodia to its knees. He threatened that should Thailand close the borders, Cambodia will not allow Thai goods to be exported to Cambodia where Thailand had a trade surplus of around $2 billion per year.

It's no strange to every puppet. He must thank his boss until they kill him. The complicated fact is, it's not Vietnam liberated Cambodia, but it invaded Cambodia and installed a group of puppets and these puppet must pay Vietnam back whatever it demands.
AH HUN SEN has this tunnel vision and he can only see the Vietcong nothing but the Vietcong for helping Cambodia! What about other countries around the world that help Cambodia in some way! The question is why don't AH HUN SEN thank the Vietcong personally instead of using the name Cambodia as if the whole Cambodian population owe something to the Vietcong? When the Viet illegally annexed a large portion of Khmer land under the French colonial called Khmer Kampuchea Krom and did the Viet ever show any gratitude toward Cambodia or even AH HUN SEN? There is no doubt that the viet invaded cambodia in '79 was an attempt to expand vietnamesation into sovereign country cambodia. the viet never wanted to withdraw its occupation forces from cambodia only after they suffered a huge defeat from the khmer resistance fighters. Thanks to khmer heroes who defeated the viets in the late 1980.

This is what I saw after the Vietcong invasion of Cambodia. The Vietcong were coming in and start recruit Cambodian to work as spy. Then what follow is hunger, starvation, and dying...then the Vietcong began to ship anything they can find in Cambodia that they consider valuable back to Vietnam.(If you see how Iraq invaded Kuwait and how Iraqi army start looting Kuwait).
From 1979 Cambodia went down hill again and a new war is blooming on the horizon between the Vietcong occupational force and the Khmer resistance and the Khmer Rouge!
After Vietcong invasion, majority of Cambodian people were on the move and some them and my family end up in United Nations refugee camp in Thailand along Cambodian border!
If the Vietcong truly want to save Cambodian people and they don't need to wait until 3 million Khmer perish under the Pol Pot regime! Reguardless to what happened in 1979, when the Vietnamese liberated Cambodian from the Khmer Rouge, we, as khmer people must work together to gain control of our country from the PUPPET regime which is run by the Vietnamese government. Our purpose of this discussion is to get Khmer patriotics to fight the recent corrupted government, (Hun Sen's Government.)
Hun Sen is a Prime Minister and also a DICTATOR of Cambodia. He is no different from Pol Pot. Pol Pot was only physically killed Khmer people, but Hun Sen is both PHYSICALLY and MENTALLY KILLED his own race. For 30 years, he has done practically nothing for his country except for his own family and friends.
From reading his biography, it is shocked to see how many Honorary Doctoral degrees he received from foreign Universities around the world. From his biography, he left school to join Khmer Rouge when he was 18 years old. When he returned to Cambodia in 1979, he was only 27 years old.
It is amazing to see Hun Sen who has done so little (or may be nothing) for his country and people yet the world see him as a "Strong Leader" who is able to hold power for 30 years. I see him as incompetence, coward, and evil.
I appologize for posting this comment, if it is, in any way, insulting you or your party, please forgive me. I am writing it as to what and how I feel about Cambodia. I love my motherland, (Cambodia.)
