The Thai man who was arrested in Cambodia is not a spy and the Foreign Ministry is taking care of him, Foreign Minister Kasit Piromya said on Friday.
Mr Kasit was referring to the arrest of Sivarak Chotipong, 31, a worker of Cambodia Air Traffic Services, who was said to have stolen information on former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra's flight schedules and Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen's itineraries for the Thai authorities.
He said Mr Sivarak is not a government spy and believed the man had been framed. The Foreign Ministry is taking care of him to make sure he is given justice.
As for Thai staff at the Thai embassy in Phnom Penh, Mr Kasit said the Cambodian government is duty-bound to ensure their safety the same as done to the staff of the Cambodian embassy in Bangkok.
Mr Kasit said problems caused by the Thaksin regime were still far from an end. He said Thaksin was now using a neighbouring country as a base to topple the Thai administration, causing damage to the country for his own interests without caring for the majority of people.
Prime Minister Abhisit said the man would be taken care of the same way other Thai people arrested abroad.

Thailand should not use an engineer working as spy in Cambodia. Thailand should use its ally (SRP) does the job for them.
Kasit tries to save his skin by accusing Thaksin looking down on Thai monarchy.
Altogether, Abhisit and Kasit must step down to save their country from chaos and humiliation.
