Cambodians prepare to walk into a courtroom to attend the trial of Khmer Rouge's chief torturer and jailer Kaing Guek Eav, better known as Duch, on the fifth day of the closing arguments in his trial by a U.N.-backed tribunal at the Extraordinary Chambers in the Courts of Cambodia (ECCC) on the outskirts of Phnom Penh November 27, 2009. Duch had to "kill or be killed" and operate like an "obedient machine", his lawyer said on Thursday in defending the first member of Cambodia's murderous regime to face justice.
