Situation in the northeastern border province of Si Sa Ket remains normal and there was no tension between Thai and Cambodian troops deployed along the border, provincial governor Rapee Phongbuphakij said on Saturday.

The border trade at Sangam permanent border crossing opened as usual and people of the two countries continued coming for businesses and trading with out any sign of disruption, he added.

However, local people were advised to follow up news about the development of the situation closely in order to be well prepared for any possible incident.

It was reported that villagers in Bhumisalon [Phum Salon?] border village nearby the Preah Vihear ancient temple of Cambodia had built 15 bunkers at the village school.

The bunkers are for safety of the school’s teachers and students in case the war between the two countries takes place.
