Suthep: Not easy to extradite Thaksin

11/11/2009
Bangkok Post

The government has no special plan for bringing ousted premier Thaksin Shinawatra back to Thailand to face the charges against him because it must respect the sovereignty of Cambodia, Deputy Prime Minister Suthep Thaugsuban said on Wednesday.

What the government could do, he said, is to use diplomatic channels, which are internationally-accepted.

The Foreign Ministry and the Office of the Attorney-General would explain to Cambodia and global communities that Thaksin is a fugitive who fled criminal charges and a jail sentence handed down by the Supreme Court, and that he is not entitled to political asylum as he has claimed, Mr Suthep said.

He hoped the Cambodian government would put the relationship between the two countries ahead of personal interests.

It would not be easy to extradite Thaksin back here, he admitted.

Mr Suthep expressed concern that Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen had challenged the Thai government to close the border.

The Thai government would not be swayed by anger or any other emotion in deciding whether to close frontier checkpoints, he said.

It is very diffucult for Cambodia to deal with Ahbishit and the PAD, which are lawless and immature! I do not expect any resolutions because they are groups of people that are not just reliabkle, but are crasy and irrationale. How can Cambodia negotiate with the current Govt that is lead by the PAD/thugs!

I do not understand why ASEAN allows Thailand to become chair of ASEAN, when her government is not anything different from Myanmar! Double standards. PM Hun Sen is the only one who dares to speak the true. That's why it hurt Ahbishit very badly. The true hurts!

If Abhullshit is not being the GREED or not overreacting there shouldn't be a problem.

There was a former Pervian president name Fuji Alberto Mori which he is Japanese descent was charged with corruption and killing he escaped to Japan and Peru request the Japan to send him back to Peru and Japan declined the request. Peru had extradition with the two countries and Japan ignore that.

Hahaaa....Thailand can you look at this prime example????

Come on, Suthep! What on earth are you talking here?
You are the person who threatened to close the border!

Don't play victim here. Be honest and stand up to your words, buddy!
