Border police at the O’Smach international border gate told Rasmei Kampuchea on 10 November that Thai gamblers traveling to casinos in Cambodia have dropped by 2/3 from an average of 300-400 per day. On the other hand, Cambodian people living near Chhorng Chorm market are still frequenting this market as usual.

Not much affect Cambodian people. Even the workers are may Thais. We are not sure the income from Casino tax will come to state budget.

The owners of the Casino are Thais and the money will go back to Bangkok. Don't worry.

This the weapon the Thai used against Hun Sen in 2003. If the Thai cannot cross the border, Casino has no revenue. When the Casino has no revenue Hun Sen his his cronies are alarming. When that's happened Hun Sen will make concession to the Thai. Poor Khmers who rely on border trade as their business are most affected, but Hun Sen never cares. All he care is about Casino's profitability.
