[Thai] PM calls for unity and patience

Bangkok Post

The government will adhere to peaceful means in solving the conflict between Thailand and Cambodia and the conflict will not be allowed to lead to political changes in the country as some people may want, Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva said after a meeting of the National Security Council on Thursday.

Mr Abhisit called for the people to stay united and not to believe rumours.

"Some people want to see changes in the country.

''Regardless of whether or not there will be a change, it must happen lawfully. There is no reason for the conflict [with Cambodia] to cause any political change in the country," said the prime minister.

Mr Abhisit said the government would adhere to the principle that any move to solve the conflict must not lead to violence between the peoples of the two countries. The government would be careful to ensure that every step taken does not affect the livelihood of the people.

He said there was no call for people to panic at every unfounded rumour. It would only cause even more misunderstanding. He asked the people to support measures to be taken by the government, and to stay united and to be patient.

Mr Abhisit said the government had not despatched any troop reinforcements to the frontier with Cambodia. The situation there remained normal and cross-border commerce was unaffected.

The Foreign Ministry was looking to see which cooperation projects with Cambodia could be reviewed, but would not be drawn into any game-playing with Cambodia. It would protect protect the interests of the country, not of individuals.

It was not necessary to resort tough measures.

"We will adhere to international practice. Shouting loudly does not mean being strong. Sometimes, quiet ways of dealing with a conflict are more effective.

"And the conflict will not be discussed at Asean level," Mr Abhisit said.

On Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen's comment in an interview that he would be ready to send former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra to Thailand, but not as a prisoner, Mr Abhisit said the government was ready to accept Thaksin, no matter what status he arrives under.

"In fact, our extradition request was made according to international practice. Hun Sen could hand over Thaksin in any status, and we would treat him according to the law," the prime minister said.

You all follow these event from day one since Abullshit administration took office?

Here in order.

1-Abullshit object Hun Sen government to join ASEAN in 1997 or 98. And Abullshit lost.

2-Kasit want HUN SEN's blood to wash his feet. Then Kasit sorry.

This is a serious insulting matter toward HUN SEN. Now HUN SEN will make Abullshit feel more humiliate and sorry and ashame.

Abullshit will be removed from office soon. My prediction will be soon. And Monkey king Ahdulyadet will die soon too.

SenVarman is unconscientiously and boastfully thought that he is godly untouchable, but ironically speaking he doesn't totally realized that the nature is always eventually changed as himself from a temple boy to a tough killer of the Cambodian PM!

I don't care if AH SBISHIT is young and horny or his is an Oxford graduated or whatever he is and he turn out to be an educated fool!

Since AH ABISHIT came to power in Thailand he devoted so much energy going after one man (Thaksin) and promoting conflict with Cambodia through military and economic while creating more division among Thai people! Can this guy find something better to do?

AH ABSISHIT is asking for entitlement because of his noble background and graduated from Oxford? Fuck that! He needs to call a quit because politic is not his blood! Tell me one thing that AH ABISHIT achieves in making Thailand a better place for Thai people!

Listen to the language of A-bullshit carefullly. He said he will treat Mr. Thaksin according to the international law, that mean he will arrest Mr. Thaksin once he landed in Bangkok. On a different note, Thailand do not want Cambodia to be seen important to resolve the matter in ASEAN OR UN. With this move, Thailand will be able to keep Cambodia in the lower level of negotiation that the world will never know the truth about the two nations. Last but not least, they will able to gain more from bilateral negotiation. So for Cambodia's good, Cambodia should push for United Nation solution because ASEAN is chaired by Thai citizen and this guy is know for bias against Cambodia.

Thai people are very smart. They would not let Hanoi and its pets in Phnom Penh to stir up their government.
