The Thai Foreign Ministry has been instructed to help solve a problem at Cambodia Air Traffic Services Co Ltd (CATS) after the Cambodian government takes control of CATS, Premier Abhisit Vejjajiva said Thursday.
The Cambodian government has appointed a supervisor to oversee CATS, while Thai employees have not been allowed to continue working in the firm, Thai News Agency reported.
The Thai Foreign Ministry will look into agreements concerning investors' protection as CATS will consult with the ministry on how it can regain its own right, Abhisit said.
Cambodia Air Traffic Services Co Ltd is a wholly-owned unit of Thailand's Samart Corporation.
Abhisit said the Thai government has been working how to deal with Cambodia, which has claimed that the Cambodian government's action on CATS is concerned with security.
Having controlled CATS by the Cambodia government occurs after Siwarak Chothipong, a 31-year-old-Thai man, who worked as engineer at CATS, has been arrested from Nov. 11, according to the arrest warrant of prosecutor of Phnom Penh Municipality Court.
Cambodia has charged Siwarak of having had confidential information affecting Cambodia's national security, a senior Thai official said Wednesday.
According to a news report by the Khmer language newspaper Rasmei Kampuchea, Siwarak spied through copying the letters of flights of former Thai Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra in Cambodia and Prime Minister Hun Sen from CATS -- Cambodia Air Traffic Services Co Ltd which has duties to control all flights in country and he sent those reports to Thailand.
Siwarak has been detained in a prison in Phnom Penh since last week as the Thai government is now in the process of seeking a release for him.
Thailand and Cambodia have downgraded their diplomatic relations due to conflict over an appointment of Thaksin as an economic advisor to Cambodia's government and Prime Minister Hun Sen on Nov.4.
A day after the appointment of Thaksin, the Cambodian government announced recall of its ambassador to Thailand in a move to respond to the Thai government's recall of its ambassador to Cambodia.
Thaksin was ousted by the military coup in September 2006, in accusation of corruption, and has been kept in exile since then.
He returned to Thailand in February 2008 to face corruption charges, but he later fled into exile again and was convicted in absentia.

Tha government always help and protect their citizen. Where is the Hun Sen's governement when the Khmer people need help--the Khmer jailed in Thaiand or Vietnam, those who are killed by Thai and Vietnamese, the farmers who lost their land to Vietnam, the victims of land grab and many more alike?
I have lived under different governments in Cambodia. However, the current government is next to Khmer Rouge regime in term of oppresion, execution its own people and intimidation among other things. As far as protecting Khmer land, the Hun Sen government has done nothing but welcoming and ecouraging foreigners to steal our land and resources. What a shame of Hun Sen. This is a real treason. It's time for all of those who work for to wake up and realize the danger of what Hun Sen has done to destroy Cambodia before it's too late. Please wake up and do something to save Cambodia.
And ,how many khmer innocent prisonner are there in Prey Norkor and thailand?
Only men and women start to organize hundred of groups to kill the youn thieve in Cambodia and men and women out side around the world gather for manifestation again viet's government in Cambodia and some good educated Khmer write letters to the United Nations to let them know that the present government of Cambodia is vietnam's puppet government and ask U'N to help as soon as possible without delay becaucause Cambodia under hun sen is under viet territorized government.
9:53 PM i beg if thailand really defend its citizen. it is only symbolic political gesture from thailand. Remember there are millions of thais being sold like pet in the world in particularly in Europe for sex slave and home slaves. These people are being humiliated and maltreated like pet but thai gov never did anything concrete to help these poor thai slaves beside accomplices with the buyers or exploiters
although i agree, current cambodia regime still used khmer rouge rules in every aspects against cambodian people to seve and defend interest of their yuon boos
Yes it's true because they love and think about their citizen. The Cambodia Gov. never know how many cambodian who went out of country for find job, and Cambodia Gov. never think how about Cambodian that go out.
Cambodian Gov't should starting to care about their people like Thailand/Viet do...! too many khmer people were chains together and lock up in Thai/Viet jails...Our people were being shot at and burned alive by Thais soldiers, why cambodian Gov't done nothing to help our people..??
Well, at least we recognized that the Thai government treats its own citizen better than Hun Sen does to Khmer people.
AH Abhisit can do no shitzzz
