Thailand vows to seek Thaksin's extradition if he visits Cambodia: Thai PM

BANGKOK, Nov 8 (TNA) -- Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva said Thailand will seek extradition of ousted premier Thaksin Shinawatra if he visits Cambodia on November 12.

His remark came after news reports that Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen announced Sunday in Phnom Penh that ousted Thai premier Thaksin Shinawatra will visit Phnom Penh this week in his new role as the government's economics adviser.

The ex-Thai premier will be at Cambodia’s Ministry of Economy and Finance on Thursday to instruct several hundred Khmer economists, according to Agence France-Presse (AFP).

Meanwhile, the Thai Foreign Affairs Ministry’s Department of Treaties and Legal Affairs is studying laws involving the memorandum of understanding (MoU) between Thailand and its neighbour Cambodia as agreements specified under its terms must be reviewed as a result of the current diplomatic row, said Thai Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva on Sunday.

Defending his government’s decision not to scrap the MoU immediately, as it needs approval by Parliament first, Mr. Abhisit said the ministry is studying all the laws related to the MoU and his government has to cease the negotiations process with Cambodia.

If the process is continued, it could be interpreted as a conflict of interest, therefore, a review has to be made and send to the cabinet for its consideration, he said.

“Until now, we’re not ready to continue the negotiations as we’ve to protect out interests,” said Mr. Abhisit.

Both countries recalled their ambassadors after Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen appointed Thailand’s ousted former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra as his personal adviser and economic adviser to the Cambodian government.

The MoU on the Area of their Overlapping Maritime Claims to the Continental Shelf, dated 18 June 2001 was signed by then-foreign minister Surakiart Sathirathai and Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister Sok An during the Thaksin administration.

Mr. Abhisit said his government would review whether the MoU will continue in force or not, or could be amended by his government.

Meanwhile, cross border trade remains normal but hoarding by some Cambodian traders has been reported in response to possible border closure.

As Khmer born lives in Europe, it is my duty to support the Royal Government of Cambodia again all foreigner attacks or invasions, as I did for my love country during the Vietnamese Occupation.

Huynh Kvack Sen's need to turn Thaksin over to Thailand, so that they can institutionalize his procession.
Huynh Kvack Sen's need to stop involving Cambodia into his personal "crying game."
What you and your thugs friend do should be behind closed door.

1:18 AM,
I am as patriots as you are, but I only support the government that works in the interest for his people.

And were not talking about the current one.

Sorry, he's on his own this one.

Now it is worth the fight with Thailand. This land of Tai has insulted us enough. It is time to fight back... Hun Sen is already looking pass this current illegal Tai government of Abhisit. As Abhisit is not in control of his government and he is incompetent to lead this Tai country to peaceful coexisting with its neighbors. Although I don't like Hun Sen and his leadership style, for now, I must support him and my country whole heartedly.

2:07 PM,
First of all, I don't know you well enough to label you anything.
Secondly, if a leader is elected to lead a country, wouldn't that constitute us as a whole?
So, you will risk your life knowing that the leader who is in the "wrong" involved his people to the battlefield?

I guess you are a better man than I am.

I will only fight for what is right and the rightfulness of that leader(s) that lead me to war.

(2:39 AM)
what do you call this war?
How do you justify it?
I suggest you do your survey first before jumping into a swamp water filled with crocodile.
Ask the people back home, see how many people raised the hands and agree with you.
Didn't we went through enough war already?
This is 2009, we should be able to find other reasonable means and exhaust every avenues to solve this conflict.

Of course by way of diplomacy. Cambodia seeks to become a peaceful nation. Cambodia is not a big country to bully other countries around. Cambodia is fighting back because she has too after a long period of political insulting from Tai land. The current and illegal Tai government who has only been in the office for a few months but has caused quite a stir and gives more than enough headed for a lot of people already. This illegal government of Abhisit is not fit to lead Tai land. They are the Tai elites who see Cambodia no other than trash. They are not ruling Tai land to make peace among its neighbors but to look down and exploit them as fit. Cambodia is not a nation cannot for them to play their game.

For the case of Preah Vihear, it should be a done deal for any country in the world since the world court verdict in 1962 . But somehow Tai land chose to keep it alive for their political tools and so people of the two nations can and will continue to hate each other.

It was not interference with Cambodia when they used Cambodia's Preah Vihear for their politics, housed KR resistant fighters, cut our precious woods, plowed our roads and soil for diamonds with the KR to fight the Hun Sen government in the 80s. That not to mention beat, burn, shoot, insult our people, move our border, hagged our our temples, steal our artifacts and culture. All of a sudden it is Cambodia interference in their politics just to name Taksin as Hun Sen's economic advisor. Clearly, it is double standard and bias on the part of this Tai government. I think the UN,NOT ASEAN, needs to step in to put an end to these problems once and for all.

I am wondering how Thailand will seek extradite, if its diplomatic relation is broken already. Will Thailand send troops to extradite Thaksin?

Anonymous said...

Sorry, it should read "Cambodia is not a nation for Tai land to play their game."

I don't think that we are in any positions to judge Thai and how their current gov't run or operates their country. Whether it fits or not. That is their affairs. As we are in worse state then our counter parts. What we need to do is correct our own first before criticising others.
But then again, Khmer moto is..... we're good at gossiping.
Aren't we?

(4:55)
try chicken livers, it's alot tastier. Lol

5:55 AM!

Are you Khmer or the stupid Thai?
If there are a lot of people like you said such thing like that the Thai will keep looking down at us.

Thai have invaded Khmer's land for years and we told them to withdraw troops or do something and the kept dragging their feed until now with their insulting on Khmer, UNESCO, IJC and the UN.

Concern,

Concern @ (7:16)
Reread my post (5:55) again.....hint the word "WE."
The Thai look down on us regardless. What's new?
If our so-called PM start to enforce regulatory border demarcations, we wouldn't lose any land. That's including Vietnam. PM Hun Sen protect the front door to his house From the Thai, but at the same time he open the back door for Vietnam. Why is that?

8:53,
No! I preferred Hun Sen's liver. Due to his heavy smoking habits; his liver should taste like..... smoke liver.
FYI, my country use to be Cambodia. Now, it's Vietnam.
Can somebody explain?

5:55 AM,
I agreed with you 100%. We don't curse at people who don't curse at us. Comments, discussions, debating should be done in a very civilized way and profanity language should be avoided. Everyone has the right to express his/her viewpoint, however, it should be done in a polite way. As Khmer, I don't condone Thai for wanting our land but I don't curse at them, their government, and critisize the way they operate their country since they never exercise those thing to us in anyway. In a way, I admire the Thai government for allowing their people to express their opionion freely through free speech and demonstration while our government never dare to let our people do it. Their democracy, though it is not perfect but it is better than us, Cambodians.

To Hun Sen (Leader of the Cambodian People's Party Hun Sen Khmer Rouge Regime)

Since you and the CPP assassinated, executed, killed and murdered jurnalists, political opponents, leaders of the free trade union, innocent men, innocent women and innocent children;

Do you have any plan to assassinate the Thai prime minister (Abhisit Vejjajiva)?

Are you going to send Brigade 70 (Hun Sen's Death Squad Unit) to assassinate the Thai prime minister (Abhisit Vejjajiva)?

Is it true, you only kill your own peoples, you will not kill Thai and Veitnamese peoples that cannot get enough of our land?

Is it true, you only kill innocent Khmer peoples with no weapon in their hands?
