A group of 20 Chinese Uighurs who had fled to Cambodia after ethnic riots in the city of Xinjiang in July will be expelled, an Cambodian official says.
He said they had to be expelled because they had entered Cambodia illegally.
The decision follows intense pressure by China, which has referred to the group as criminals.
A US-based Uighur rights body said that as members of a Muslim minority, the group were likely to face persecution in China.
Cambodian foreign ministry spokesman Koy Kuong said: "I can't say where they will be sent but I assume their final destination will be China, the place where they come from."
Death sentences
A protest by Uighurs in Urumqi erupted into violence in July, leaving at least 197 people dead.
Shops were smashed and vehicles set alight and passers-by set upon by Uighur rioters in the city, whose population is mostly from China's dominant Han group.
Groups of Han later went looking for revenge as police struggled to restore order.
Most of those killed in the unrest were Han, according to officials, and Urumqi's Han population had demanded swift justice.
Twelve people were sentenced to death after the riots.
Tensions between the mainly-Muslim Uighurs of Xinjiang and Han have been growing in recent years. Millions of Han have moved to the region in recent decades.
Many Uighurs want more autonomy and rights for their culture and religion than is allowed by Beijing's strict rule.

Hun Sen has no power to do expel anyone, but since the US refused to grant these Uighurs an asylum because of China, all small countries like Cambodia has to follow. China is controleld by the HAN barbarian arrogant killers. 56 nations China took from to create this ONE CHINA but never once the barbarian HANS ever treated those ethnic groups equally like the HANS. The sad part is that the US is also controlled by the Communists who called themselves Democrat, will send back these people to die by the barbarian HANS. May China and Vietnam be destroyed by earthquake for their barbaric acts.
The Uighurs were very brave to stand up to the Chinese. But they made the mistake of seeking refuge in a country being lead by people crueller than the Hans Chinese- the CPP. The people controlling the CPP themselves ran away to seek refuge somewhere else. They ran away from the khmer Rouge- the murderous friends of China's. But now that they are rich and powerful, they have forgotten their origin, and even forgotten thier own people- the Khmers. So what chances do these poor Uighurs have? they are going back to life-long jail terms, if not deaths. Then again, knowing how the Chinese government treats its prisoners, perhaps death is better. So my brave Uighurs, don't go quietly!
Indonesia, Malaysia or Brunei are the Muslim countries, they will able to give these people the refugee status.
China or Cambodia are not right place for them.
The Chams representatives should come out and rescue them!
And what are doing the UNCHR in there?
