The public appearance in full military uniform by Privy Council president Prem Tinsulanonda at his Si Sao Theves residence yesterday could be a sign of another military coup in the making, Puea Thai Party spokesman Prompong Nopparit said on Tuesday.
“Gen Prem appeared in a military uniform shortly before the Sep 19, 2006 coup, and history could repeat itself again,” Mr Prompong said.
He also claimed to have received an in-depth report that there could be another coup.
Mr Prompong said a privy councilor cannot get involved in politics. Therefore appearing in a military uniform could be a political signal, a threaten against people who plan to political demonstrations.
“It was a danger signal reflecting the fact that the country does not have full democracy and there could be another coup,” the opposition party spokesman said.
Deputy Prime Minister for security affairs Suthep Thaugsuban rubbished the idea.
Mr Suthep said it was not unusual for Gen Prem to don military uniform as he is a former army chief. Gen Prem dressed like that because he had to welcome the chiefs of the three armed forces and senior military officers who visit him at his home to wish him a happy New Year.
“Gen Prem might well want to send a signal to soldiers that they are all ipart of the same group and are all duty-bound to work for the country. There is nothing more to it,” he said.

I wonder if the "strong and healthy" Prem found some new young cadets to play with?
Gen Prem represent the king of Thailand and he control all the arm forces. He can topple the government or arrest anyone. Thai government is powerless. But I don't see the reason he do it this time, because Abhisit and PAD are pro royalist. If Pue Thai came to power again, yes, then Prem will stag another coup.
