Cambodia donates $50,000 for quake-stricken Haiti

PHNOM PENH, Jan. 16 (Xinhua) -- The Cambodian government announced on Saturday that it has decided to contribute 50,000 U.S. dollars for the relief efforts to the people of Haiti.

Along with a message of condolence of Prime Minister Hun Sen, "the Royal Government of Cambodia has decided to contribute 50,000 U.S. dollars for the relief to the people of Haiti who are facing great suffering from this colossal natural disaster," the release of the Ministry of Foreing Affairs said.

Prime Minister Hun Sen on Thursday sent a message of condolence to his Haiti counterpart, expressing the mourning of the Royal Government of Cambodia and its people for the death of Haiti people in the strong earthquake.

A 7-magnitude earthquake hit Haiti on Jan. 12, causing thousands of deaths and injuries and extensive destruction, while many people are left without shelters and are in need of food and medicines.

it's not even worth for a hunsen son's roll roy wich $350,000us. anyway it's never from hunsen's bank. he just used the pple money. it's still better than nothing, in the tsunami, haiti donate nothing to the victims.

I hate Ah Hun Sen regime deep to the bone , but it good thing to do and please look at Cambodian people the same way when they are in miserable and need help.

A person don't give their children food to others until they are well fed.

I read of a Khmer woman (goodhearted) who spent $30,000 of her own money trying to lift the poor out of the dump sites by building school facilities and giving them free education.

I wonder if Hun Sen knows anything about this goodhearted woman. I suppose if he gives any money to such a cause, it won't be known to international leaders.

Very good Mr. Hun Sen, you have the praise of men.

In the article Khmer Riche by Andrew Marshall published in the Sydney Morning Herald, it claimed the Hun To, Hun sen's nephew, ordered a custom-made Mercedes car from the U.S for $500,000 U.S dollars. Where did Hun To get the money from? So, the aid to Haiti is only 1/10 of the cost of Hun To's car.

Pathetic! Hun Xen's nation only can contribute $50K. His watch and ring cost more then $50K.

Tom Braidy's wife wrote a check for $1,500,000 to Haiti.

It doesn't matter how much Cambodia contributed, it shows Cambodia has a heart and is sympathetic to other nations and races. Cambodia. As a Khmer I'm proud of it.

I haven't seen Thai or Viet contribute anything.

It doesn't matter who (country) and how much is the donation, this is the time of needs for people of Haiti who are suffering from the natural disaster and it prove that Cambodia do care about Haiti and its people

He needs to take care of his own people first! This is politics, he's just trying to show the world he has a heart, nobody is buying it! Use foreign aid to help Khmer people, as it was intended!

It is good to help miserable people but see your own people is the first priority.

I finally get this idea: There is no Cambodia, but Hun Sen and he is a YOUN slave. I used to admire and feel so proud of Cambodia's soldiers defending our territory from Thailand, but since I see how the same Cambodia's soldiers choose to abuse and beat up Cambodian farmers living along the Cambodia-Vietnam border areas trying to silencing them from speaking up against the YOUNs, I lost every respect for these Cambodia's soldiers. Actually I learned that Cambodia does not have any soldiers. Only Hun Sen has soldiers and his soldiers are out to serve the Viets while killing the Cambodians. We all are doomed.

I'ts not fair. When Katrina hit the U.S. no other countries even care to help the U.S. Now the U.S. spent $100 Million to help Haiti?
