Pennsauken, NJ - April 19, 2010 - Prior to April 1975, people around the world knew about the Vietnam War. Today, people know about the fertile land of the Mekong Delta that helps Vietnam to be ranked as the second leading exporter of rice in the world. However, there are very few people who know the true history of the Mekong Delta and its surrounding regions. Therefore, people don’t know about the indigenous Khmer-Krom peoples.

The Khmer-Krom are the indigenous peoples of Kampuchea-Krom. Kampuchea-Krom means “Cambodia Below” or “South Cambodia”. Kampuchea-Krom was the southernmost territory of the Khmer Empire. The territory was renamed Cochinchina during the French colonization of Indochina. After the French government illegally transferred its colony, Cochinchina, to Vietnam on June 4, 1949, without the plebiscite or the consent of the Khmer-Krom, Cochinchina (Kampuchea-Krom) became lower half of the Republic of South Vietnam. Since April 30, 1975, Kampuchea-Krom has been known as the Southern part of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.

Living under the control of the Vietnamese government, the indigenous Khmer-Krom peoples have suffered tremendous human rights violations, confiscation of ancestral lands, and economic and social deprivations. The Indigenous Khmer-Krom peoples are not allowed to learn their own language and history in public schools or to freely practice their Theravada Buddhism without the interference of the Vietnamese government.

As an effort to bring awareness of the voiceless Khmer-Krom in Kampuchea-Krom to the world, the Khmers Kampuchea-Krom Federation (KKF) is proud to present this book about the Khmer-Krom, entitled "The Khmer-Krom Journey to Self-Determination". This is the first time this subject has been presented in this level of detail in the English language.

This book contains material produced by the KKF reflecting the true accounts of the Khmer-Krom regarding their history, culture, religion, and land. This information was produce by the combined efforts of KKF contributors, living in Kampuchea-Krom and from countries around the world. This book also consists of a collection of articles and essays about the Khmer-Krom that are written by academics and Human Rights advocates.

In his review of this book, Madev Mohan, the International Law representing Khmer-Krom Survivors at Extraordinary Chambers in the Courts of Cambodia (Khmer Rouge Tribunal) wrote, “this book should be read by all activists, scholars, jurists and policy makers in the fields of international development and humanitarianism with a view to identifying fresh measures to preserve the Khmer Krom social memory and culture, protect the human rights of the Khmer Krom people and, importantly, tell the Khmer Krom story.”

It could be changing later or very soon. Remembered the former Yugoslavia.
Today Yugoslavia don't exist but Serbia, Croatia, Slovenia, Montenegro, Macedonia etc... are coming back.

fuck you vietcong the only good vietcong is the dead vietcong

Anonymous said...

the UN officials for human rights should also go to mekong delta to check on commy viet/youn because youn is abusing khmer krom people's rights.

Anonymous said...

remember even if viet/youn thugs tries to erase history of khmer krom, it will never be completely erase from the history book as they world is huge. so everyone can help to educate about history of the mekong delta region and its indigenous people, the khmer krom who lived their on their khmer ancestral lands even before viet/youn migrated to live their. so, if youn want to destroy khmer krom rights. even in the USA, spanish name and culture, etc were preserved and given property historial credit, even thought the lands become the USA. so, viet/youn should not try to erase or abuse or fabricate history of khmer krom, etc. otherwise, sooner of later bad karma will catch up with them because history showed over and over again that nothing last forever, as great world civilization and power come and go; it's just a matter of time, really.

Yeas, it's about times for all Khmer to know the real history of Cambodia and Kampuchea Krom, before a fake Vietnamese history created by yuon to make us all confused.

OMG, It is really fun to see all the Cambodians mastubate themselves, so funny. Even though the US they had called South Vietnam but never Khmer Krom, WTF?? another example, American kicked out the British, now they are seperated countries. So in this world, the stronger is the winner. And sorry to say, Cambodian is never a strong union and weak, accept the truth

weak against strong, sounds like the animals in nature, really! are we human or animal? go figure!

Anonymous said...

in khmer language, we called that "sat dae ro chhan" - the wild animals, not human, ok!

Anonymous said...

why would a human being want to be like a wild animal? if you can answer this question, then you are a human being!

Anonymous said...

humans do evolve from animals and actually animals in biological concept, dumbass

Anonymous said...

you mean smart people do borrow concepts from the animals, however, a human being is very distinguished from the wild animals, really! so, why be an animal, just because we borrow idea from some animals. the problem here is that some individuals tend to mix the distinct concepts together to confuse others less educated ones. that is so evil, to say the least, really!

Anonymous said...

In nature, the stronger animals are the winners. In society, the winners are the smarter ones. Even you like it or not, the world still evolves this way, please stop living in lala land

I don agree the term "the Indigenous Khmer Krom peoples are not allowed to learn their own language". One day all you still lie someone by your hating them mean you all will lose.

KKF can see in the Prey Nokor News. They have enough rights to learn. Or all of you don know about it. All you should visit Kampuchea-Krom one time.

I'm so proud of Khmer Krom brothers/sisters, your hope, your plight, your dream will come true. Recent events:

Kosovo got independent
East Timor got independent

Soon they (Khmer Krom) too, remember this story?

Greece was under Turkey for +400 years and they managed to rebel and fight for their freedom and again became an independent country without colonize from anyone else.

Khmer Krom will become a country in this near future...

If you are Khmer Krom, you should know that the Youn only allow Khmer Krom to learn Khmer as what they want you to learn. All the material that the Khmer Krom learn is monitored and controlled by the YOUN.

There are very few places in Kampuchea Krom are allowed to learn Khmer as a propaganda to show that YOU allow Khmer Krom to learn their language.

You must be a freaking YOUN pretending to be Khmer Krom and try to say good things for your oppressive government.

i know, nothing can beat time, yes, time will catch up with viet/youn for stealing from khmer people for a long time now! yes, bad karma will catch up with viet/youn thugs, too, sooner or later!
