Not interested it.It's not worth to own one.
I know him very well. He does not have any experience in stock market. However, thank for his contribution to society.
may be the government should instead invest half a percent of its national budget on Cambodia's new graduates-exploring their potentials in software, gaming, solar technology...

It's good that he can compile it, but it's not necessary for anyone to use Khmer terms in stock market. Some years ago, I got deeply in daily stock trade with Option Express Brokers, who sent me a few good books about the terms and strategy. I had spent a lot of time before I jumped in the trading game, yet I lost. After I followed the rules and made great detailed analysis in reading the up-and-down of stock movement, I never believed I could lose in stock market, but I did. It's really a dangerous game if one plays daily PUT or CALL.
12;17am.
It is good to invest. But in this recent recession, you have to put more money into G Fund (Governmnet Securities) to be safed.
There rae 5 Individual Funds:
G Fund (Governmnet Securities)
I Fund (International Stock Index)
S Fund (Small Cap Stock Index)
C Fund (Common Stock Index)
F Fund (Fixed Income Index)
I suggest you put money in
G Fund 50%
I Fund 15%
S Fund 15%
C Fund 20%
When the economy is getting better you can aggressively put more in C Fund. Don't bother with F Fund.
G Fund is to save your money under recession.
12:17AM - sincere commiseration from a fellow khmer investor. I have been in company shares for the past 8 years, taking a long term value/fundamental approach to stock investment. during the GFC my portfolio shrunk by 20 to 30% and it really was scary but i was too "komsark" to jump off a tall building. i decided however to tough it out and i actally bought more shares. This year my portfolio is up double digit, doing better than most professional fund managers. So my experience has been positive. i don't trust the idea that Cambodia should have her own bourse. the reason is that our legal, banking and commercial infrastructure is unsound and corrupt to the core. Given an opportunity i suspect Khmer investors would rather trust the legal and commercial systems in Australia or Hong Kong or S'pore. Of course that's no good for our country's development because a bourse provides a means for domestic funds to be tapped for commercial ventures. The solution is to learn to walk first before trying to run.
7:39AM - it's a truism that before you offer financial advice to anyone you have to know the financial circumstances of your client, as well as his/her risk profile. For a start if your client has a huge mortgage why would he invest 50% of his spare funds on securities that pay less than 3% - will he not be better off paying off his mortgage that costs him 5% and more? i'm not saying that these numbers are real - i'm just saying that advice needs to be individual specific.
Your are right 9;20am.
I only offer my advice to those who have a good foundation like myself.
9:46AM: thanks for your feedback. Of course there's nothing wrong with your recommendations per se and for the average well-to-do khmer in the US this is a reasonable way to go about looking after yourself later in life, if you accept average market returns. But for the young khmers who've just finished university education, they could take a more aggressive stance in stock investing and it can be fun if you are prepared to learn from others. when i started to look at the share market my rationale was and still is - if Buffett can do it, why can't i have a go? Beware however that you do not confuse a stock exchange for a casino, that you invest only your own savings and won't jump off a tall building if you were to lose a big part of it (ie don't borrow), that you are prepared to stay in the market for the long run, and that you have the time to study the companies you buy into. By the way, for what it's worth, i would hate to put my savings into US govt securities (paying near 0%)just because of the massive tsunami of USD flooding the post GFC world. Gold is already pricing in that USD tsunami. Good luck.
i thinnk this is a good start for cambodia because it opens up new avenue, provide knowledge and understand for khmer people the opportunity to pursue whatever interest they wanted to study or work as a career, etc... of course, everybody has gotten to start somewhere, somehow, really! we all learn from each other all over the world, that's the smart thing to do, really! be open-minded! god bless cambodia.
i think it's about freedom of choice being introduced into cambodia from abroad. that's a good thing!
Who want to place the bet on Cambodia stock exchange? Not me. I don't believe in this regime. They keep stealing people's properties. So how could you trust this idiot government? They will steal our money and give it to Youn Vietcong. Some people from America tried to buy the properties or land back home and they don't see how Hun Sen does everyday by confiscate people's land. Let's see if they will retain their investment in the future. How could the property value in Cambodia cost about the same as industrial countries such as America? It is manipulated by Hun Sen regime.
Invest in stock like gambling in the casino. It doesn't guarantee you to win all the time. The best way to place your money is to buy the property or goal. Khmer people in America lost a lot of money in stock.
Khmer in America
11:20am,
My invest is for the long run. I have a little more than 30 years to retire (65). No I don't keep all money in G Fund, I allocate my money depends on the market. Those Funds I listed were just been allocated. I knew G Fund makes no money, but at least helps me to save my money I lost in C Fund to Zero. Another stock I have with Mutual Fund is also good, because the stock brokers keep updating and sofa I haven't lost a cent.
I have thought to invest in Cambodia, but the situations in Cambodia scared me away.
11:32AM, it sounds like you're on top of the world man! sincere congrats for planning your finances so well..
