My husband is very worried about having no lawyer.SOME Svay Rieng villagers facing charges over the removal of border markers – an incident that has also landed opposition leader Sam Rainsy in legal trouble – say they have no lawyer to defend them in court.
The villagers have been summoned to appear in court January 27 along with Sam Rainsy on charges related to the removal of the wooden markers near the border with Vietnam.
But with just over two weeks to go before the court date, relatives of two of the accused villagers say they are worried that they still have no lawyer to represent them in court.
“My husband is very worried about having no lawyer,” said Chhoeung Sarin, whose spouse, Prom Chea, is one of the accused.
Meas Prel said his sister, Meas Srey, one of the other accused, also has no lawyer.
“I have often come to visit my sister,” Meas Prel said. “I pity her so much. She doesn’t sleep well.”
Hang Chhaya, chairman of the Cambodian Human Rights Action Committee, said his organisation might find a lawyer for the group.
Prom Chea and Meas Srey were jailed December 23 after receiving a summons to appear in court for questioning.
Three other villagers – Prak Koeun, 38, Prak Chea, 28, and Neang Phally, 39 – fled after being called for questioning and remain on the run.
All five have been accused of removing border markers during the same incident that has Sam Rainsy facing court action.
The opposition leader faces charges of racial incitement and purposefully destroying border demarcation poles after the incident in October that saw markers in Chantrea district uprooted.
The villagers claimed Vietnamese authorities were encroaching on their farmland. Vietnamese officials, however, reacted with outrage, calling the removal of the border markers “perverse”.

Lawyer is useless in the courts that jail victims to help thieves.
100 lawyers will be also useless, this land is not role of law, event lawyer themself their must server also for CPP, if not they will lose their job. Cambodia now is belong to Indochina Forderation, all boss are Viet. And once day Khmer land belong to Youna and Angkor Wat is the same.

your comment is 100% correct when I remember to the historic book of Ngoun Kheugn "Walking to the West in 1973", what he wrote at that time was/is the same like today's developement. Oh we all Khmers must thank to the Sdech Ta policy (Sihanouk) giving our Land to Viet step by step and he is the worst king of Khmer after Chhay Chhethat II in name of Norodom in the last 21 th century. And that is the suicide policy of him with his best uncle HO.

This way, the world knows that youn/vietnam is not good and doing alot of wrong. In return, no one want to travel to vietnam or invest in vietnam. That is the only way youn will learn when you fill the " pain at the pump " like high price gas.

As I was young I was living near Sdech Ta palace, my Omi was Samdech Pindara and saw Sdech Ta fast every week, as I was young he was the best one for me like the other Khmer children in Cambodia. After I received education oversea and have analysed more about Khmer history in the I past, I can tell you in the following:
1. At the time Khmer was "neutrality country", why he allowed Vietcong and Viet stationed in Khmer Territory?
2. Who commanded Khmer Army transported weappons and medicine from Kampong Som for Vietcong and Viet army in our siol by 1969 ?
3. who received $278 Millions for what?
4. Who commanded Gen. Lon Nol to push Viet army and Vietcong in 1970?
5. who surpport Khmer Rouges during 1970- 75?
6. Which King in the Globe cooperated with communism in the cool war ???
7. He knew exact about the Viet and Khmer history, but why he is to be friend with them?
8. Till now, he always only blamed to Gen. Lon Nol and Pol Pot about the war in Cambodia, but once you must knew, after Lon Nol pushed from Cambodia, Lon Nol appeal him for returning as Khmer King, first he accept but a day he retuned he rejected why?

Sam Rainsy ran away to France after he created troubles for local people who had problems with their properties. This showed a weakness point of the opposition.

Nope, she is nowhere to be found. That particular lawyer is probably having an afternoon tea with some expatriates or toasting some cocktail drinks at some swanky pubs along the Phnom Penh water front.
