Inhuman Crime

Leave, leave, leave, I now leave you Phnom Penh,
With endless suffering,
I knew there was no liberty since the first day.
Stop, stop, stop [water from flowing], we built dikes and dams, and dug canals,
We were so worried, but that was the so-called “knowledge.”
The university which only taught how to dig and carry,
There was no need for proper schooling.
Standing on the rice-field dike, expecting to be relieved,
But I suffered even more,
As I was separated from my parents and other relatives.
Propose, propose, propose, when cooperatives propose to take someone,
One needs to be mentally prepared,
If the person never came back, be sure that they were smashed.
Poor Khmer!

It is my sincere hope that Ms. Oum Sophany does not end up like the unfortunate Thouch Srey Nitch.

It is quite perilous when the recording artist (s) mix with sympathy and politics.
