Rong Chhun, the vocal president of the Cambodia Independent Teachers’ Association (CITA), has been re-elected to this position for another 4-year term. Rong Chhun, who did not face any opponent for this election, said that his first task is to push the government to increase the teachers’ salary of 1 million riels ($240) per month. Currently, teachers in Cambodia earn about $2 per day only. Rong Chhun was first elected as CITA president in 2000. Currently, CITA counts 9,263 members in 19 provinces and municipalities.

sometimes the things we needed and wanted in life is not given, we have to demand and fight for it such as the fair market salary for teachers. cambodia should make sure state salary reflects the cost of living in the economy and the country. for example, if the cost of gas or food go up, then the salary should go up to reflect that as well, or vice versa, if the cost go down, then salary should be adjusted to such as well. this way, everybody will be happy or satisfy and treated fairly, really!
in the USA system, cost of living arrangement is tied to social security, and other gov't income, etc... so, cambodia should borrow from the american system as well, to be fair!
Because Cambodia is a country that governed by a band of idiot thieves.
KI Media,
please clarify something: "his first task is to push the government to increase the teachers' salary of $240 per month", then "Currently, teachers ..earn $2 per day only". If you earn $240/month, you definitely earn more than $2/day, even allowing for weekends. So did you mean to say "his first task is to push the government to increase the teachers' salary TO $240/month"?
