Ven. Hok Savann, I respect your opinions and analyzing but I for me, I see yuons’s invading of Cambodia at 7 jan 1979 as subsequent phase of yuon colonization policy over Cambodia. As you may know, Khmer rouge is first a yuon movement, led and handles by yuons politically and administratively. Polpot as few of his comrades were there for yuons to use, that’s all about it. Yuons know exactly what to do with their tools, while to use, while to destroy.
Polpot did have some serious issues with his masters Hanoi because polpot did know that, he will soon be destroy by yuons some days because yuons didn’t really want to keep polpot in power for so long. In one word, polpot did know that Yuons want to replace him by someone else or other group of khmer rouge which is more easy for yuons to handle. This draws polpot to lead purge among his rank.
I don’t think military collision between khmer rouge and yuons was an order or a wills from polpot because Polpot was in serious position to keep his life save and his fragile power, kindly offered by yuons, safe. I rather see it as yuon strategy to provoke this military collision in urgent in order to use it as pretext to legally invade Cambodia and install definitively its colonization sphere in Cambodia via its tool cpp. If yuons known so well, if yuons left more time, Cambodian people will be saved by cash bleu and yuons expansionist and genocidal policy will be displayed. Yuons will lose all its efforts over these years. On the other hand, I often think UN had voluntarily left yuons free card to lead mass genocide against Khmer people and colonize Cambodia. Till today UN did nothing significant to end yuon expansionist and genocidal policy against Cambodian people, in Laos people and Khmer krom people. But often contribute to it in some ways, among other help yuons to clean hands from the crimes committed.

I have a different view from above posters who asked you to focus solely religous. You can practice religous peacefully unless your country and your people are secure properous. You should use your talent as religous leader to save our country in every ways you can.
Regardless of the different meaning of what "politics" means,every person has the right to involve in politics. Monks, especially, have important roles in every aspect of social, political and spiritual well being.
To deprive a citizen from politics is to eliminate freedom, rights, democracy, peace, justice all together.
Examine the Cambodian history then and now. Our Khmer people have the least to say about politics and as a result Cambodia has been under the dictatorial rule for many years. Leaders always crave for absolute power because nobody can challenge them. If they do, they lives are in jeopardy. Do we want this to happen to us and to our prosterity?

Being a 100% pure Buddhism monk, you better stay away from such politic interfering, otherwise you will get Kama or you wont be able to archive your goal in being real monk. You are not allowed to analyze what is right or wrong in politic activities because as you already know politic is worst and ugly thing ( some they kill each other for power and sometime they cheat each other for power too, but monk should be clean, and you could only be able to give advise all buddis-follower in not to hate or scandalizing or insulting each other and esp. you should find the way how to advise Mr.Sam Ran Sy and his fellow not to tell much lier and tell him to say more true what he have seen..at the same time you should advise Govt side do more good things on their people as budda advise..so that we call you REAL MONK, otherwise we will label you as political monk..

-Vietnamese government didn't have any dispute with China at all before having disputes with Pol Pot. It was a power struggle in vietnam between group loyal to China and group loyal to Soviet Union. In Vietnam, all personals and all offficials loyal to China were all removed and were being killed or jailed.
Son Sen must be one of the most important element closed to Vietnam to kill all Cambodians so that Vietnam can get an empty Cambodia. Therefore Pol Pot has killed Son Sen by himself.
