On Wednesday, a human rights organization declared that two villagers, who were charged by the Svay Rieng court of uprooting stakes along the Cambodian-Viet border, have found a lawyer to defend them. According to a communiqué issued by the Cambodian Human Rights Action Committee (CHRAC) on Wednesday, Sam Sokong, a CHRAC lawyer will defend the cases of Mrs. Meas Srey and Mr. Prum Chea who are currently being jailed in Svay Rieng, as well as three other villagers who have fled. Sam Sokong told The Phnom Penh Post on Wednesday that he will show up in court as planned on 26 January to defend all the 5 villagers above. Hang Chhaya, a facilitator for CHRAC said that there will be no fee for the lawyer provided to defend the villagers because these villagers are very poor.

i think it is good to talk about this border issue, considering cambodia can't afford to lose anymore land to vietnam like during the dark ages. viet/youn's westward march or whatever is now history, perhaps cambodia and khmer people are beginning to wake up and perhaps it is our turn to march eastward. hey, nothing last forever as history shown, you know; it's just a matter of time, really! study world history and you will see what i mean: the great roman power waned, the greek civilization which west society derived from waned, the kubla khun gone. so, nothing last forever, really!
Five farmers in Svay Rieng province dared to uprooting stakes along Khmer-Vietnam border because they believe a road runner Xam RainXy takes all responsible. In fact, Xam RainXy just used those farmers to promote his political stunt, when his stunt got backfire, he escaped to overseas and leave those farmers in trouble.
I hope at the end of day, the government will pardon to those farmers and take a tough stand with Cambodian trouble maker Xam RainXy.

in cambodia, usually the educated take full advantage like exploit those who they considered less educated than them, really. that's the remnant of the old society, however, i'm optimistic that cambodian society will be a lot better in the near future, that is, not so much class or status anymore, only time will tell, really. old habit dies hard as they say it, you know!

Have you read Ker Kim Yan's report regarding Khmer lands being violated by the yuons ? Are you blind ? You don't deserve a piece of paper from UTS, UNSW or Sydney Uni, or UWS. As a responsible leader, Mr. Rainsy should come back and take all the responsibility and confront the government, not just shouting from France.
These people should be applauded for protecting Khmer land, but they shouldn't be used as a "kon ook" by any politician.

The Vietnamese violated the International Laws, United Nations Resolution Paris Peace Agreements in 1991, Cambodian National Security, Secrecy and Privacy acts, the Khmer Laws of the 1900’s, the French Bonne map of 1954 by encroaching and moving the border markers. The Cambodia-Vietnam border demarcation started in 2005 to be completed by 2008 but the Vietnamese has changed to 2012. The United Nations must inspect every new border markers according to the French Bonne map of 1954 accurately and precisely with today technology. All the border markers the Vietnamese has been installed are not official without the United Nations, ASEAN, and International Community supervision, inspection and protect by the United Nations peacekeepers. Hun Sen keep silence on the Cambodia-Vietnam border demarcation and declares war on Cambodia-Thai border for Preah Vihear temple and surrounding area of 5 sq. km. While Cambodia (181,600 sq. km.) is still occupy and control by the Vietnamese government. Hun Sen will punish any Cambodian who anti-Vietnamese on the border issues and the Vietnamese living in Cambodia. It is a deadly consequence to all the Cambodian under the Vietnamese supervision and land-grabbed by forced evictions. The Vietnamese is using the Cambodian elites to kill the poor Cambodian same as the Khmer Rouge killing fields. This time is the Vietnamese systems smooth, unnoticed, and unknown to the outside World as we describes and we called the Vietnamese planned SILENCE HOLOCAUST.
All Khmer people and government must protect and save Khmer people and land blame each other is not going to solve any problems. For the government must learn from your boss not do what ever your boss demands.

Thank you for all your educated comments and insights. It's tough when you have to argue with people who can't rationalize clearly. That is certainly the plight of Mr. Rainsy, poor guy, he has to deal with these barbarians on a daily bases.
Unbelievable, some people on here, have the audacity to try defend Hun Sen's traitorous actions. The Shit has hit the fan and we can all smell your bullshit!
Mr. Rainsy and all the Villagers are my Heroes, they are standing up against a ruling party that only stands to steal, kill, and profit from Khmer People and Khmer Land!
