In addition to the various other dead and injured people, on Tuesday, another Cambodian citizen was seriously injured by a Thai bullet when he and a group of 11 other men attempted to cross the border to log trees inside Thailand, along the border with Oddar Meanchey province.
According to local villagers and human rights group officials, a 25-year-old man living in O’Smach commune, Samrong district, Oddar Meanchey province was shot once on his right hand, and once in the back by Thai soldiers at about 5:30AM when Thai soldiers discovered a group of about 12 men inside the Thai territory.
Ly Kim Eng, the father of Ly Khloeung, said that his son is still alive after being shot twice. Nevertheless, Ly Kim Eng said: “This is normal life for people living in O’Smach commune. They have to earn a living through logging trees along the border.”
This is another heartbreaking story for poor Cambodian villagers who are forced to venture into logging trees or working as laborers in Thailand. In the past, Cambodian villagers met with horrendous circumstances, some were shot dead, while others were burnt alive or have their heads cut off by Thai soldiers. The information on these tragedies was made available to the public, but it is rare that the Cambodian government would react to all these savage acts.
Cambodian government officials prohibit Cambodian villagers from crossing the border to Thailand to log trees, or work as laborers. However, because Cambodia did not create enough jobs to prevent such flood of illegal workers crossing into Thailand, Cambodian villagers continue to serve as shooting target for the Thai soldiers. All of this is due to the hunger of these Cambodian villagers.

The Royal Government of Cambodia should invest in creating jobs in the country. Foreign aids should be used to foster better living conditions for its citizens, not going into the pockets of corrupt government officials. The Cambodian government should do the same to the Thais tresspassing into Cambodia as in Preah Vihear areas, Prasat Ta Moan, Ta Krabei...Letting the enemy to occupy Khmer land this long is a major mistake. Bilateral negotiation (A Thai trick) is in deadlock and only with international international intervention, will there be a solution as seen in the 1962 court case in favor of Cambodia.
A long the border line, where are Cambodian army? Why only Siam army at those area? People can cross, the enemy will cross and still our land too. I thought our army was camped a long the border ready to protect our land.
Maybe no body care there cuz no big boss would give any things to the border forces.
I don't know whether i do wrong or right. At this time everything that we've talked is not respect and value just wait to let every one here and whole Khmer to change it first.
The way of society and humanity education between Thai and Khmer are always not the same.
We Khmer people have had all bad memories during the last 41 years, but the good thing, we still have our respect and our love to others people.
Thai contrary enjoyed to treat other people in their own country without respect like third class citizen, because they are not Thai.
What the Thai soldiers have done again the Khmer shows an act of provocation, barbarism, animalism and lost of respect. Therefore Thai people did not deserve to be a civilized people.
Wonder why Sam Rainsy never condemn Thai for invading Cambodia or kill Khmer citizen! Why one guy care only the west and another only care about the east, why not protect and defend Cambodia and its citizen from all sides!
I just Googled and 95% of Khmer men are idiots. They sit in front of their computers writing stupid comments while the Viets and Siems plunder and rape their country. Even the name of their website KI stands for (K)hmer (I)diot. No wonder why the Viets and Siems are laughing so hard about their Khmer slaves.
where is sam rainsy's human rights people? can't allow siem to keep on shooting khmer civilian like this!
